ESPN College football optimum viewing

I am a long time UVerse customer. We have an outdoor patio based smart tv on which we want to stream college football on ESPN.  

Chromecast was our first attempt and apparently there are licensing conflicts that prevent us from viewing. We could see the game thru the app but could never get it to the tv screen.

Some have suggested Amazon Firestick.  I would prefer to chase a few rabbits as possible so experienced input would be welcomed.
