Gone, at least from AT&T's website.
Alas, UVerse has been eliminated from the AT&T website. The shutting down of the service can't be far behind. Even now, if you want new u-verse service in Columbus (and presumably, everywhere), you can't get it.
Too bad. U-verse still has the best DVR in the business.

They will stop selling u-verse, when ATT TV their new streaming service is rolled out in the market. Right now from what I can see ATT TV is only offered in 10 cities right now now, they are supposed to expand to new areas stating in October. The area I live does not offer ATT TV and you can still buy u-verse

Marc -- The Dish "Hopper" DVR has sixteen tuners plus (I believe) whole-home DVR capabilities if you have the joey tuners.

Here's a list:
DirecTV -- Continues on for several more years. It sounds like some of their older tech is going to shut down. Customers who may need new equipment will be notified as such. Overall, DirecTV isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
AT&T WatchTV -- A little-known streaming service. Nobody knows much about its future. It seems like AT&T doesn't even know much about it, according to an article I read.
U-Verse -- As the new service gets into markets, U-Verse will stop being sold in those markets. Current U-Verse customers keep trucking on until further notice.
AT&T TV Now -- Formerly known as DirecTV Now, I think this will use Android boxes. This is a streaming service, but I think you'll actually need a box. It'll be priced similar to U-Verse or DirecTV, as opposed to a pricing structure similar to Hulu or YouTube TV.
These boxes and equipment are why it can't just have instant availability all over the country like Hulu can.
Both streaming services use the same name/app, IIRC.
Eventually, say 10-15 years into the future, it'll just be AT&T Watch TV, but this won't happen until after DirecTV gets shut down.

This is what is confusing ATT TV and ATT TV NOW are two different services
ATT TV NOW is a channel cord cutter, no contracts, no equipment , watch thru your roku.(used to be direct tv now)
ATT TV is the new streaming service, that will eventually replace the direct tv and u-verse platforms . Why? It is an install where a box is mailed to the customer, to install themselves. No more appointments are needed where uverse a time costly install, or direct tv where a dish needs to be installed. They will stop selling u-verse when ATT TV is rolled into a market, they also do not want to install dishes anymore , so direct tv is on the way out. However I think the final death of uverse and DIRECT TV is still a couple of of years away , as right now there are no plans to force people of uverse, they will slowly shrink the subscriber base by not selling it anymore and try to push people towards the new ATT TV SERVICE. Be warned the new ATT TV streaming service is a 24 month contract

They're not going to shut perfectly healthy birds down. What they *could* do is stop advertising it as heavily.
They could easily deactivate 100% of all U-Verse and DirecTV boxes. I don't see them doing this. I think U-Verse is fine for a couple more years.

Yeah, they won't shut it down but they're not going to enhance it very much, either. No UI improvements, few if any new channels etc.. Dead technology, plus, they're fighting so hard (for me) on retransmission consents and renewal fees that they're just begging me to cut the cord.
