Guide Keeps Popping Up On Screen
The guide keeps popping up on screen while we are watching programs. Also, different versions of Uverse menus will display, Help Menu, Program information, etc. all while we are watching a program.
These are the steps we have taken to try and troubleshoot the problem:
1) Reset the residential gateway
2) Reset the Uverse Box
3) Unplugged all equipment, replugged and restarted
4) Called Uverse and talked to customer service and went through the steps with them. Eventually received a new modem.
Now we have a new modem.
Problem still persists.
Took steps 1 - 4 before.
Updated software for the TV again. All is up to date.
Problem still persists.
Please do not advise to call customer service again. I would like an answer and a solution to this problem.
Thank you.

Possibly a remote control gone haywire? Never saw these symptoms before, but it sounds like something's triggering a bunch of random actions on your STB. Pull the batteries from your remote & see if the symptoms persist.

Wellll....I've had Uverse for 11+ years and been active on these forums for that long and I have to admit, I've NEVER heard of this problem. That's probably why CS was grasping at straws.
My first thought was 'sounds like the dog/cat is sitting on the remote'. Other than that, I got nuthin'......

Is this a new problem.
Do you have another att receiver in addition to the dvr? Is so does the problem occur only there, only the dvr, or both?
As an experiment hide the uverse remote (stick it under pillow or something). Also any other IR (infra-red) emitting remotes (e.g., the tv's own remote). Does the problem still occur?

My random guess?
Try brand-new batteries. If those don't work, my guess is something is wacky with the remote. Call CS (I know...not what you wanted to hear) and request a new remote be sent. Take the batteries out of the old one to guarantee only the new one is sending signals.
Another random guess: Does your neighbor have U-Verse? Perhaps they're playing a prank? IIRC, something like this happened years ago where the neighbor's signal was getting mixed up with the other person's.
