How to program Uverse cable box to a jumbo remote?

My mother has very poor vision, so I bought her a jumbo universal remote. But I don't know how to program the remote to work with the cable box.  The AT&T tech did not know the code. Does anyone know the code to make this work? Will a non-AT&T remote even work?  I can make the tv work, but not the cable channels.

Yes but only if there is documentation for that remote that explicitly says it can be programmed for att compatibility.  Since the universe of possible remotes in that category is relatively small the probability is very high that remote is not att compatible. Odds are much higher it can be programmed for the tv's channel selection but that useless since you need to be able to control the att dvr or receiver.

Unless things have changed (and they may have) the only universal remote that worked with ATT equipment was a  Logitech Harmony.

Thanks for the reply. So does that mean that my mom is stuck trying to deal with the small numbers on the remote?  AT&T should be able to provide for solutions for the disabled. And she's 98, so voice activated devices aren't going to work well.

This isn't the first time this topic has come up.  I did a google search on these forums.  There were a few results.  You might want to check them out.
