How to remove a favorite channel list

On one of my recievers, I created a second favorite channel list.  After realizing that this makes the already cumbersome process of selecting the favorite list in the guide even more difficult, I decided it wasn't worth it.  So I wanted to remove that list so that I would be left with one favorite channel list (comes up in the guide as soon as you select "Favorites" from the menu).

The trouble is, I can't seem to find any way to remove this list.  Does anyone know how to do this?  I can remove channels, but I can't seem to remove the list entirely.

Thanks for any help.

Yeah, The same thing happened to me. More than one Favorites list is unusable.

Menu - Options - Channel Options - Favorite chans - OK on the list to go - ENTER - Delete this list

@tinajkd -

menu -> options -> channel -> edit/add favorites -> list name you want to delete -> rename/delete list -> delete list (in right menu)

Maybe the UI changed a little since 2014.  The only part that really changed from the original description was the rename/delete list -> delete list (in right menu) last portion.

There are two favorites lists on our living room TV.  One is mine (SPORTS), the other is for the kids.  We each use ours.  What's your problem with them?

That is fine for your case because two different people  are using it and must select which one  on each use.

There are other cases - such as setting one for guide & one for multiview. In this case the guide version should be specified by an option so it can be applied by default each time. Same on the multiview path.

It is bad enough that the favorites guide cannot be displayed with one click. Each additional click is a painful boil.

Setting default options and minimizing clicks and considering amount and difference of usage when building the interface seem to be missing from the process.

I agree about the multiview, and that you should be able to get to favorites more directly, but neither of those issues makes named favorites worthless.  Just not as useful as they could/should be.

I looked back & do not see the word worthless. I see cumbersome & even more difficult.

I wrote - unusable (for me)

Anything that is programmable & "not as useful as they could/should be." needs to be changed if it is to be considered a quality product.

JefferMC, I think you misread my original post.  I did not say named favorites was worthless.  I said that having multiple favorites lists wasn't worth the extra steps it takes to use them.  That is why I wanted to delete the second list.  I still want to keep the first one.

I was trying to simplify my post by avoiding too much detail, but if it helps, here is the deal:

Since the user interface is poorly designed and we cannot set up a favorites as the default when we hit "guide", I am working around it by creating a macro on my Harmony One remote.  Unfortunately, the Harmony One macros have a max of five button presses.  With a single favorite list, I can pull it off: menu, down, down, down, OK.  If I add a second favorites list I am then required to go through a sub menu to select the correct list.  This adds more presses than my macro can have.  So for me, the extra effort is not worth the benefit of having multiple lists.

Hope that clarifies things.

Now I'm going to try the procedure aviewer mentioned in the first reply.

The procedure from aviewer worked great.  I guess I never went into the list to edit it, so I didn't see the option to erase it there.

Thanks a lot!

No, neither of you said "worthless."  I believe the word aviewer used was "unusable," which to me amounted to saying the same thing.  I find it useable in my scenario.

I understand that it could be better.  For the most part, when a user is trying to figure something out, I try not to soliloquize on how features should work, but focus on telling folks how they do work.  This also applies to AT&T business and support practices.  When the thread is solely focused on how a feature should be improved, then I may step in with an opinion on how the Utopian Video & Internet Company does it.

I just went through extreme frustration while trying to delete a "favorites" menu. The problem is that when using the S10-S4 remote, the "enter" button is not obvious. It is not the same as the "selection" or "OK" button. As a matter of fact, it looks like it is labeled "zoom". It is the lowest right hand button on the S10-S4 remote, right above where the remote is labeled "zoom" the button itself is labeled "enter". Click that botton and your options to delete or rename your favorites menu will appear after you've selected the menu. Hope that helps.

This does not work for me. After going to Menu Settings Favorite Channels and going to the list. There is no Delete list option at all. No matter what button I push.

I have tried this repeatedly. Delete does not show up. It has changed.

Well then call tech support because what I described must be there and it hasn't changed!

Admittedly, it's called "Rename/Delete List" but it's there.  This photo was taken only moments ago.

@tinajkd - ok, so my instructions were slightly wrong.

menu -> options -> channel -> edit/add favorites -> list name you want to delete -> rename/delete list -> delete this list (in right menu)

I originally said, "delete list".  Should have said "delete this list".Man Surprised   Excuse me.  Sheesh. Man Frustrated  But I did say "in right menu"!  @skeeterintexas was kind enough to post a picture of the page.  Thanks.
