i bought a new hdmi tv and i am unable to get a picture

i had an older tube type tv, and bought a new hdmi tv. I am only getting a no signal message? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Plug in an HDMI cable from the AT&T set top box or DVR and the other end into your TV.  Make note of the HDMI port you used on the TV.  Use your TV remote to change the input to that port.  They are typically labeled HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.  You should see the picture.  If not reboot the STB/DVR.  After you get a picture you will want to go into the settings of the STB/DVR and set you screen resolution to 720P or 1080i.  You might also check to see if your TV supports surround sound.  Try setting it to that and if you here audio leave it set to that.
