Music channels without dark screen

Is there a way to play the music channels with no video on the screen? I like to use them to go to sleep at night but the screen is too bright. Please if someone has an answer it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

@Petmother- Check your TV settings - My JVC TV has an audio only setting that is ended with the press of any button. While in audio only mode the screen is black.

You can blacken the TV screen by turning down the picture and or the brigtness settings on the TV.

To make it easy to turn on/off, assign it to one of the settings, such as movie. Then change from normal to movie at night & back to normal in the am.

You can connect the audio via the red/white jacks to another TV input & select that input for black screen. Some TVs may show a blue screen. Do the turn down trick above to blacken screen. It just gives you a simple way to change it.

Of course, all these require TV setting changes via the the TV remote or the U-verse remote set to TV.

If the STB is connected to the TV via composite video - Yellow/red/white - Dieconnect the Yellow jack.

You could connect the red/white audio to a boom box or other audio device & turn off the TV. Connect it to these speakers - http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Studiophile-Active-Monitor-Speakers/dp/B0051WAM1O/ref=pd_cp_MI_2

Maybe you could fashion a sort of curtain out of blackout fabric to lower over the TV at night.

Would it work to turn the set to face the other way when you go to bed?

You could use a sleep mask, too.

Throw a large towel over the TV (screen) at night.

That's a good advice, I have an LG Plasma and it had a power saver mode where it just turns off the screen, but still allows sound. Most fairly modern TVs should have something similar.

I run the fiber audio out signal to my amplifier from the TV Receiver.  I just turn off the TV and the amplifier continues to play the music.
