NFL Network & RedZone are gone
Can anyone, preferably from AT&T, tell me if NFL Network & RedZone are no longer being carried on U-verse? At 4:15pm today I tried to go to channels 1629 & 1630, but what I saw was a message saying “This channel is no longer carried” and there was a reference to TVpromise.org. First time I’ve ever seen that message. To me, that isn’t just that the NFL Network is offline with broadcast issues. It’s that U-verse has dropped those two channels. Anyone else have this issue or heard anything about it?

But I am watching In advance of he NFL Draft because I enjoy evaluating prospects and find the business of the NFL intriguing. So in essence if you do not have an interest in diving deep into your team needs and the college prospects that may help your franchise not having the NFL Networks “ Path to the Draft “ Show is not a big deal.
In our area the NFL is #1 and our Stadium has been sold out for over 50 years with a 20 year wait for season tickets. People literally bequeath season tickets to their estates.

My point is that I am paying for a service AT&T prided at a cost ( $100.+/ month) and now I am playing the same amount without the full service that was provided when we elected to purchase AT&T Uverse. So my perceived value of the cable provider has been diminished and for me it has been diminished beyond repair. That is how important the NFL Network is to this household. Hope you understand our perspective.

Obviously the NFL has incredible bargaining power. Extra revenue is coming from all directions, including overseas and the new gambling sources. It was beyond laughable a couple of years ago when a certain faction tried to pretend the NFL was dying. The salary cap will explode. Russell Wilson eventually signed a new record-breaking deal with the Seahawks last night. But there were reports that Wilson was aware of the salary cap inevitability so be wanted his contract to include a percentage of the salary cap by year, instead of a dollar number. That would change the dynamic around the league, and not in the owner's favor. Seattle gave in to a contract far above its early ceiling, but did so partially to prevent that cap-percentage from becoming a trend.

The timing of this really is incredible. When I was in college the draft was 12 rounds. I used to take 12 manilla folders and extend them fully, while using a magic marker to neatly write the name of every team and its selection for every round. Then I taped the folders to our living room wall directly behind the TV...2 rows of 6 rounds apiece. For the final month or so of the spring semester we would sit there on the couch and often debate the various rounds and which teams aced and which ones screwed up. Visitors to our apartment would initially be shocked but then they'd join in as well. Fortunately we were all sports minded so I never had a roommate who complained or demanded I take it down. I would walk around campus with the Joel Buchsbaum Draft Preview from Pro Football Weekly, and a couple of other similar versions from that era.
Decades later AT&T wants to pretend none of that ever happened, and removal of NFL Network shouldn't bother me in the least. As long as I can accidentally press "1" on the remote and be siphoned to "On Demand," everything is jolly in their world.
