No live sports on FS1?

I just read on the Fox Sports 1 site that it's contract with Uverse does not cover live events starting tomorrow (2/28) and Uverse customers will be blacked out from the Xfinity race at Atlanta (along with many other sports). Come on Uverse, get with the program and fix this please. Live sports are the main reason I still subscribe to your service.

Bad faith by FOX. Just like before in Atlanta and St. Louis with baseball. If you sign a contract, have the decency to see it through, then re-negotiate.

Garbage FOX!

FS1 is likely not under a normal contract like other channels as it took over Speed's slot, with FS2 taking Fuel's slot. There was a big hub-bub when FS1 launched as FOX wanted more money for FS1 than what it was getting for Speed.

As FOX was contractually bound to provide programming comparable to Speed, many providers stuck with the old deal, which paid FOX less money on a per-subscriber basis. I assume most of those old Speed deals have expired, except for AT&T, which would explain the mess going on now.

Good point. It reminds me of when a channel goes off the air and is replaced by something else on most providers, but there can be one provider that still has a contract for the old channel. U-Verse had a loop of G4 for an extra month to "ride out" the old contract. There was a satellite provider that had a loop of Nick GAS for an extra while as well.

Agreed.

Would ESPN want to re-negotiate if they added extra NCAA games? Would Cartoon Network want to re-negotiate if they added a new show?

My guess is that they would...when the contract is about to expire. Unfortunately, none of us were at the bargaining table, so we may never know what transpired. Maybe it was U-Verse's fault for not including a "current and future programming" rider. Maybe FOX is being greedy. I have a feeling that U-Verse knows how to negotiate, as I have been with them for several years and have only seen the loss of three channels across two different companies.

Anyone know if FS2 showed the replay?.....also, FS1 is scheduled to show some CUP races, this'll get turned up a notch if they blackout those......& will this repeat itself once the schedule goes to NBCSN?

I'd imagine this is just a FS1 thing, as this is a new-ish channel and NBCSN has been around a while.

I'd also imagine that NASCAR would put pressure on AT&T and FOX to get some sort of deal done, considering someone is missing out on some advertising dollars by not getting into U-Verse homes.

But...since I am just a U-Verse subscriber and nothing else, these are just my guesses.

They did right after midnight on FS2.  As to the Sprint Cup races, don't think they'll be affected as they were not mentioned anywhere.  Also all the Fox races were on the Fox locals for years, so they paid for them.

Assuming the rates did not go down, they are still paying for a full Fox season of Sprint Cup races.  In the case of O&Os like here in metro Detroit, it was direct payment to Fox.  Therefore we have full credit for all the Fox Sprint Cup races, whether on Fox or FS1.  We'll know for sure when the 4/24 race gets to the schedule.

Bad news is the replay of next Infinity race has darts scheduled then. Smiley Mad

I am sure NASCAR, Big East (especially with the tourney starting next week), USGA, and USA soccer are well aware of what's going on, I am sure they're NOT pleased. They're missing out on revenue dollars because some of their fans can't get some of their content. I am sure they're going to put the pressure on both sides to somehow meet in the middle.

I just got U-verse and I don't want to have to switch already, let's get this done.

Just to make sure NASCAR knew where I stood, I sent Steve O'Donnel, an executive VP with NASCAR a tweet basically stating that a deal with FS1 = a deal with the devil.  Steve did not respond, even though he has in the past.

My husband and friends are upset that ATT will not air NASCAR on FS1. He is considering leaving ATT and go with another company that will air it. NASCAR is huge in our community and for ATT not to air the Xfinity series is very upsetting. Are you saying the deal has been made and there will not be changes to this?

Let's be aware that AT&T wants to air NASCAR, but FOX is saying "no more NASCAR until you pay us more, despite the fact the contract is not up for renewal."

Yes, the deal was made years ago when AT&T and FOX contracted to carry FS1 for a period of time.  Now Fox has arranged programming they did not have at that time (NASCAR) and has told AT&T you can keep getting what we agreed to, or we'll sell you the content behind door number 1 for an additional fee.  AT&T has decided to hold to the original agreement and Fox is still giving them the same FS1.  However, Fox is advertising that FS1 is showing NASCAR and that the rascally AT&T just won't show it.  Interesting spin, don't you think?

That's the key, keep putting the pressure on them, (NASCAR, Big East, USGA, USA Soccer) that way they can put the pressure on them to get something done.

In the end, as they always says money talks.

Sadly this will not be the last battle between channels and cable/satellite companies, but we as consumers need to speak out.

This dispute seems rather simple to me. If Fox has a contact with ATT that has a clause they can add extra fees mid contract, then ATT is at fault and needs to pay up so they do not lose many customers. But if there is no clause Fox needs to respect this and move on to making better shows and give FS1 back.

By the way, for those looking at switching to comcrap, they do not carry FS2. This channel does carry live sports and is the backup channel to start basketball games when they run late (which is every game)

Maybe it is time to tell U-VERSE to take a hike and go to somebody eles that will carry the races and other live programs on Fox Sport 1. The CEO with AT&T could take his bouns check and pay for the extar cost so that we could see the Races. I ask if them when I sign up for U-VERSE if they would have the races and the SEC network and was told yes they would, and now they are getting blackout. Maybe it is time for the CEO to pay for us to see the races and keep there word to us the customes no matter were the race is.
