On-Demand availability extreme lacking

Why am I SOOO limited on any tv shows selection on shows I can watch? The majority of shows don't even show up if they aren't currently airing new episodes, but the ones that do... I'm lucky if I can find more than 2  or 3 episodes for the majority of shows, why is that? Isn't the point of "On-Demand", so that I can watch the episode from the show that has previously aired? Why is it such a tease?, it isn't that way for Direct-Tv, Xfinity, Hulu, Or Even Netflix, so why is it for U-verse? It didn't use to be this way when I had it a few years ago...the hilarious thing is that when I search for most of the same shows online (on website or app), it almost always give me atleast a few more options (not many), any of you experts care to give me a answer that actually answers this..please, It very well may be the factor in whether I say to heck with u-verse or not again cuz this is super lame.
