Overkill on Request for personal identifiers
Hi, I'm a DirectTV Stream customer. It works well for us, and we like the price. Yesterday, I tried to add two additional streaming devices to our current account and was unable to do so unless I entered by DoB and full SSN into the online form, so they could do a credit check. This is odd. I already have an account, and both ATT and DirectTV have that information already. After escalating through 2 different customer services professionals, I got to a manager who still could not accept the alternatives I offered: 1) placing the order by phone, where I'm more comfortable sharing a personal identifier than over the net, 2) going to an ATT store to place the order, or 3) going to Costco, where I originally purchased this service, and placing the order there. The consistent message is that they required this info for "your own protection and security." Sorry, rings pretty hollow coming from a company whose customer data has already been hacked, stolen and sold in recent memory. So, ATT and DirectTV -- if you're reading this, its weird that you even have to do a credit check for a $10/mo add on to an existing account where I'm already paying $100+/mo. Second, if you lose my business, its only because of this concern over unnecessary collection online of personal identifiers you already have. I like everything else about the product.

I should mention that I'm posting here because my DirectTV Stream account was established through my ATT account and they are linked.

@MHatlie Even though they are linked, You'll get better responses posting in the appropriate forum this should be in Directv stream forum. this forum is only for legacy u-verse tv. What streaming services are you trying to add? just premium channels?
