Showtime vs. AT&T
So today I reached out to both Showtime and AT&T and asked them to estimate the percent chance we would lose Showtime. Showtime said it looked pretty likely- probably about 75%. But AT&T said they doubted very seriously it would happen and said "less than 5%". So who to believe? Myself, I believe Showtime. AT&T is just trying to squeeze out one more month's bill money out of me before the [Edited to comply with Guidelines] hits the fan because they pretty much know I'll be canceling then.

WOW...Showtime took your call? I'm impressed.
AND you have the number to someone at ATT that's got the inside info? Again...impressed.

Well I asked the counter person at my local McDonalds, and she said it was 50/50 for AT&T to lose Showtime. She said the odds on getting Hallmark back were 3% , but the chance of nudity on Cinemax was 100%. I think she knows what she is talking about .

Lol! Truthfully, I have U300 but rarely watch Showtime (though that Earthquake comedian was very funny!). No great loss there, especially since BB After Dark is no longer on SHO2. Maybe they could work out a deal getting CBS local VoD in every market. Might be a good thing to ;lose them for a day or two and get rid of some of the riff-raff. 😉

I might be wrong, but I'd assume TVGuide (whatever they're calling it now..PopTV?) is covered by the same contract.

Neither. There is no way you talked to anyone who has any knowledge of the negotiations or liklihood of the various possible outcomes of those negotiations.

It would be great to add CBS On Demand and Pop TV out of these negotiations, though I'd be thankful just to keep the status quo.

Did you hear any news about the CBS and AT&T U-verse contract dispute situation as of recent? I was watching a CBS local channel today and I did not see anything about a contract dispute between U-verse and CBS. Usually, when a cable/sattelite TV provider is in a contract dispute, there is a scrolling graphic at the bottom of the screen announcing it. I heard that the deadline for this dispute is on June 30th.

From the article in the link below:
AT&T’s U-verse contract with CBS has reached the end of its line – at least for now.
The agreement that was formerly in place, providing U-Verse users with access to channels including Showtime and CBS Sports, expired at midnight June 30.
Dallas-based AT&T (NYSE: T) released the following statement regarding its negotiations with CBS
“We continue in active, productive discussions with CBS to carry its programming,” AT&T spokesman Charles Bassett said in a prepared statement. “Beyond that, we cannot comment on ongoing contract negotiations.”
The company would not comment on whether the stations would go dark if an agreement was not met.
About 2.5 million subscribers, with Dallas serving as one of the largest markets affected, are expected to lose access to CBS-owned stations if they go black, according to a report earlier this month by the Wall Street Journal. The report also stated that CBS was frustrated with AT&T’s lack of interest in preventing users from losing the stations.
Meanwhile, AT&T is still working on solidifying the acquisition of DirecTV. It is unclear who will handle the negotiations if AT&T acquired DirecTV before hammering out details with CBS.

I haven't watched Showtime in months. I would rather they not include it in my U-300 package and discount the price $6 a month.
