Small Digital Antenna due to Tegna blackout

Your TV promise states you would help with a digital antenna, where do I get this digital antenna, what does it cost and who installs it?

I’m missing our local ABC affiliate.  Please provide a link for the offer.

In the past we got a one time bill credit of $10.  If this drags on, I’m hopeful for that.

ETA:  Apparently the antenna offer is for commercial accounts that have DirecTV.  😡

I'm not in a market with a Tegna-owned station, so I can't see the actual text right now.  Can you share exactly the wording that you saw on the https://att.com/tvpromise site about the antenna?

Assuming it's still valid, that $10 credit can be used for Paramount+ or Peacock.

Someone I know is a U-Verse customer in Cleveland. Apparently she got $20/mo off each month! (She knows to call back...and she got the agent's ID number and ticket number from the call.)

During the Nexstar dispute, I got $10 each month plus they re-instated my "$30/mo for a year."

I think they advertise "one time discount" because they know 90% of the people who call won't call back. At the end of the day, they'd rather get 80% of a customer's bill than 0% of that bill. It definitely helps to be aggressive (and obviously polite) when you barter for discounts.

At one time, they even gave me a discount "because of the dispute" that wasn't even in my area!

Video linked by our friend litzdog911 as to why we're in this mess more often:

While the claim is that they are offering an antenna, they are not. They were originally stating that on their verbal pitch that temporarily replaces the blackouted channels but they have since removed that from the video (at least the one on TV; the one on the Internet still has the old pitch but probably not for long). What is actually says is that "If you want the peace of mind to protect yourself from these blackouts once and for all, we'll even help you cover the small cost of a small digital antenna to watch your local TV signals over the air for free for good.")

If you are a DirecTV or DirectTV stream customer you can request ("claim") a $10 credit (one per billing cycle)  by following a number of links starting at tvpromise.com.. If you are a U-verse TV subscriber, the links say you can claim a credit but they do nothing that allows you to do so.

I suspect that is what they meant by "help you cover the small cost" but it was mis-interpreted and since removed.

An antenna may also not work.

While the broadcast stations claim a market area of wide reach, their digital transmissions often cannot be received by indoor TVs unless you have an old-fashioned outdoor antenna. Those stations are hiding behind outdated regulations in their claims of coverage.

I’m missing my local ABC station and while my OTA antenna picks up all other local stations, it won’t pick up WFAA….but I did my due diligence and realized I can stream ABC on Disney+.  👏

Call 800-288-2020 and ask for your $10 credit. They'll absolutely give it to you.

@skeeterintexas

How does one stream ABC on Disney+?  I see the shows, but is there a live stream?

I don’t watch that much ABC programming but was able to live stream the finale of Dancing With The Stars on Disney+ but I had to stream Shark Tank (next day) on HULU.  🤷‍♀️. Then there’s the ABC app that offers other ABC programming.  So I guess you can live stream SOME ABC programming but not ALL ABC programming.  🤪

I appreciate the streaming/live on an app option, it can be confusing.   😵‍💫

Yes ...I do remember seeing occasional stuff (mainly DWTS) being live on Disney+.

With that said, it would be nice if they allowed live streaming for people who lived in markets where Disney (ABC) owns the local affiliate.

But that would remove the leverage their affiliate has with the video provider.  Not much incentive to do that.

True.

Paramount+ and Peacock both stream their respective broadcast channels. I believe Peacock streams whichever one is local to the viewer at time of viewing.

I'm not sure about Paramount+ if that's local or based on credit card.
