So it looks like advertising is finally here ><

I was shocked to see an annoying 'subscribe to U-verse games' banner pop-up appear whenever I went to go view Recordings. This (Edited per community guidelines)! Does anyone know how this can be disabled?

Not seeing it here in metro Detroit, probably no way to be disabled anyways. 😉

Edit:  That stupid ad showed up just now on the Menu, even though an hour ago it wasn't there.

I just noticed it today here in Dallas ... must be brand spanking new. It's not that intrusive yet, but it could be the thin edge of the wedge.

I've also seen the ad here in SE Wisconsin and I find it irritating despite its not being too intrusive.  It's a little bit like paying for an "upgraded" app on your phone but still getting the ads.  There are already too many distractions on the TV screen identifying the channel or network you're watching, and advertising other shows while you're trying to watch the one you chose.  And the DVR doesn't eliminate these on-screen ads at the bottom of the screen like it does for commercials you can fast forward through.  So now, the ads are invading my menu.  I would rather pay an extra fee for an "ad-free" experience than to tolerate these ever-increasing distractions that already pervade my desktop, iPad and iPhone usage.  Guess I should have started with a curmudgeon alert.

It's on the main page when you use the Menu button but not when using the Recorded TV button.

I seldom use the Menu button unless I'm searching.  I always use the Recorded TV button so I was unaware.

This a bit off topic but along the same lines.  I have noticed that the ads whilst watching programming on certain channels seem to be getting bigger and talking up viewing space and blocking the actual program where you miss part of the scene.

You know those ads that used to be very small down in the right hand corner of the screen which advertised the next show on that channel, their channel logo, or some other nonsense they want you to know?  Now they are getting larger, and some have used the whole bottom of the screen for their ads.  It's getting annoying, but I know there isn't a darn thing we can do about it.

Rant over............

We can thank the DVR for the advertisers pushing commercials onto the screen during shows. Things like American Idol using Coca-Cola cups, shows "Built By" or "Driven By", or even "watch this show coming up next" ads are the "next generation" of ads.

I wonder...

If you were to add it for one month, does the ad go away? What about if you were to cancel on the last day...does it re-appear a few days later?

If the ad went away (and that's a big if), it would probably just be replaced by a new ad for another service that you don't have yet.  I understand that ads are the reason for the existence of TV, but it's getting ridiculous.
