Some racket these local stations have.
This is a cautionary tale for anyone who would leave Uverse or DirectTV over a retrans dispute. These blackouts are happening to all providers with increasing frequency. 2 years ago, there was a month long blackout between WBNS (Columbus CBS) and Uverse. A lot of people left Uverse and went with Spectrum. Fast forward two years and now, WBNS is threatening to blackout Spectrum. What's interesting is that they are using their success with AT*T to prove how reasonable they are.
This is some racket these local stations have. Blackout their programming one provider at a time and get you the end user to blame the provider for not wanting to pay the 100% increases being demanded.
Attention Spectrum Subscribers
Starting at 1:59 a.m. October 1, WBNS may not be available on Spectrum. That means you could lose access to your favorite CBS programming, including NFL football, SEC football, NCIS, Young Sheldon, Survivor, Madam Secretary, as well as your local news, weather and sports. Tell Spectrum to keep WBNS, by calling 1-844-757-2826.
Information about WBNS on Spectrum
In order for WBNS to be delivered to your home, we negotiate agreements for the rights to carry our station with video service providers like Spectrum. WBNS has agreements in place with all of the video providers in our area, including AT&T& U-verse, and DIRECTV. Over the past several years, we have successfully reached multi-year agreements with some of the largest distributors in the country, including DIRECTV, Comcast, DISH and many more.
Unfortunately, so far, Spectrum has refused to reach a fair, market-based agreement with us. If a deal is not reached by 1:59 a.m. October 1, Spectrum subscribers could lose access to WBNS.

Exactly the situation. The station owners paint ANY retransmission entity in dispute as a money-grubbing business that refuses to "do the right thing"; that is, meet their demands. Two years ago in your market, At&t was the demon, while Spectrum was one of "the enlightened"; now, it's the exact opposite. Only the station owners are winners in this ongoing debate.
