Sound out of Synch with picture but only when streaming thru apps
We use our Sony Bravia with UVerse both as a regular TV system and as a “smart TV” to stream programming via the internet thru downloaded apps. When just watching regular UVerse TV everything is fine. But when streaming through some of the apps the sounds gets out of synch with the picture. It will start out fine and while watching a program suddenly the picture will jump and then the out of synch situation happens with the picture lagging the sound. The Showtime app seems to be the one most adversely affected, although other apps are also affected from time to time. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

The video and audio are separate parallel streams. It is possible for the video stream to have an issue (lost frames, etc.) and then recover and be at a different point in the program than the audio stream (or vice versa). There should be time keys in the streams to help them stay in sync, but I think that once they get out of sync there's no good way to bring them back in sync without deliberately skipping some content on the stream that's ahead, which may cause other issues.
