TV Channel Freezes After 10 - 15 Seconds
Hello All -
I am experiencing an issue where the TV Signal Freezes after 10 - 15 seconds. A change of the channel unfreezes, but then freezes again after another 10 - 15 seconds. This occurs both on my DVR, and on the normal STB. I have tried rebooting both, as well as rebooting the RG. Nothing seems to cure the problem. My internet works just fine.
This problem is documented in the forums as a multicasting issue. See forum thread here: https://forums.att.com/t5/Using-your-U-verse-TV/TV-channel-works-10s-then-freezes/td-p/4174655
Have there been any updates on how to solve the problem?
Thanks for your input!

Tech just told me that it is a "local" outage and all that can be done is wait. I'm waiting, but service has been acting odd ever since the last software update a couple of weeks ago. This is odder than normal, though.

@bsadelmanI'd do a whole house reboot.
Unplug the RG and DVR and STB(s)and any WAP for wireless receiver(s), wait 30 seconds and plug the RG back in.
When that turns all green, then plug the DVR back in and wait until it reboots. Then if there is a WAP, plug it in and let it turn green.
Then plug in the STB(s), wait til it reboots and see if things work right. Good luck 😉

You cannot plug your wireless receiver WAP into a secondary wireless router. If not plugged in directly to the Uverse router, you must use an unmanaged switch such as a Netgear FS105 or GS105. This was my problem, which caused the freeze after 10 seconds upon changing channels. My wireless receiver WAP is upstairs, away from my Uverse router. I also have a secondary wireless router upstairs to expand my wifi access. Upon installing the unmanaged switch, my problem was immediately solved. Simply install the unmanaged switch. Then, plug the wireless receiver WAP and the wireless router into the switch separately. Solved for $30-60, depending on if you want Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet. I opted for Gigabit.

Plugging the WAP and a Wireless Router/Access Point into the same non-VLAN-capable switch that is plugged into the Gateway will still not work properly.
You should isolate any Wirless Router/Access Point onto a separate RG port from any U-verse IPTV gear.
I suspect that BigTex12 will discover some wireless performance issues in this current configuration.
