@NetNathan - If you got a slingbox or other such device you could connect it to the output of a u-verse STB & connect it to the u-verse internet access & set up an IR blaster to control the u-verse STB you would be able to control and watch your u-verse service from anywhere in the world that you have intrernet access.
If your viewing needs are less demanding you can watch whatever you can find on u-verse.com.
I did get this automatic download of "UpdateInstallV2.exe".
But when I tried to run it it gave me this statement....??
I am not near my tuner and do not understand "supplied USB cable". Do I need a special cable? I went ahead an clicked next and the app it ran is labeled "Tuner update application V2 Release1.9.6.12", but it tells me there is no connection (which I know).
@NetNathan - On uverse .com I think step 2 is installing a plug-in to verify your acct. The install process is not very friendly. If you have a pop-upo blocker set, you may not see the next step alert. & it does not help when it denies.
These methods of viewing all sound great in the ads but have too many roadblocks be of any value. You may have found a new one in the "out of area". The whole idea is to extend the viewing area.
It sounds like you are trying to add a tuner to accept broadcast or cable TV freqs. The USB port is a fundamental/generic interface for adding function that includes input/output to a computer. It appears it is saying time to connect the tuner.

I have my Slingbox set up on a dedicated U-Verse box. Alternatively, you can just use your regular U-Verse remote to control your TV and then use the Slingbox website like you normally would. If you only have one U-Verse box, because the Slingbox acts as a passthrough, you'd only be able to watch one show...whatever is on your TV would be on the Slingbox website.
It sounds like the OP may need a proxy to make the U-Verse website think the OP is within the USA.

You must have been doing more things - one of them would trigger - I did get this automatic download of "UpdateInstallV2.exe".
A tuner for your computer would have nothing to do with u-verse or slingbox.
