Uverse app won't work on Chromebook

I have used my Chromebook to watch TV on the Uverse app for a long time.  Starting 4 months ago it won't work.  I have the updated app, uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared the cache, etc. and still nothing.  I've called tech support a few times and get the same response each time.  They're aware, they're working on it and they can't (or won't) say when it will be corrected.

Then to top it off, I tried my tablet (haven't used it for a while) and the Uverse app won't even come up in the Google play store.  (Edited per community guidelines)???

Let's get your U-verse app working again, @Ellee2013

We understand you've already tried some pretty extensive troubleshooting. Let's meet in a direct message, so we can take a closer look at what may be causing this. Please check your direct message inbox in the top right corner of the page.

In the meantime, you may want to try some of these U-verse troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure you are using the correct member ID to sign in
  2. Restart the device.
  3. Delete cache. Varies on phone, browser or device operating system.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app
  5. Verify you have the latest software/ operating system on your phone or tablet
  6. Turn off other apps that may be in use
  7. Make sure you have U-verse TV service and an appropriate package – if you do not have U-verse TV, you can see if it is available by signing into your account at att.com.
  8. Reset your password – This can help sync up your account.
  9. In some instances, restoring the phone has resolved app function. You may lose pictures and other data if this is performed.
  10. Also, be sure to report/post a review in the applicable software store for your affected device to help address an issue.

Looking forward to chatting with you!

The app will work if you use your correct U-verse member ID.  It needs to be unlinked from your other accounts. Optionally create and use subaccount credentials to access the app.

I'm able to sign in.  The problem is when I try to watch something.  I select a channel (and it's all channels that I was always able to watch), select watch live, it then says "loading video" with the spinning circle, then the screen goes dark and it goes right back to the home screen.  I've used this app for years and never had this problem.

I don’t have a chromebook, but I am aware the Uverse app requires Android 7 or better.

I have the same problem on my Dell laptop.  It's like it will only work now on Android or IOS.  I realize ATT is trying to convince Uverse users to go to DirectTV, but this is crap.  No warning from them at all that my devices will no longer work!!

What does your Dell laptop have to do with any of this?   Att pulled Uverse support on Windows years ago.

All I'm saying is I was able to watch on the Uverse app on my Chromebook and my laptop - now I can't.   It works on my husband's Ipad, his Iphone and my Galaxy S10+.

As much as we pay them per month, I should be able to view a show on a screen larger than six inches!!!

PC support was discontinued a long time ago.  Not sure what good grousing about this now achieves on a practically dead product.

As for Android, you will also have to come to grips with the fact older hardware and operating systems will become obsolete and deprecated over time.  It is a fact of our modern life.
