U-verse app

Why doesn't the new U-verse app have local channels available? The old app did have local channels available.

I have just recently found that there's a filter that appears to be on by default (for reasons I have yet to learn) called "Live Channels"  It appears that this filter, when enabled, blocks local channels.  I'm thinking the intent is that this filter only shows channels that you can view "live" from the app (and local channels, in general, cannot be).  But why the f*** it seems to be on by default is a dang good question (which I have asked).

So, anyway, try touching the funnel at the top of the grid.  Click on Clear All.  See if you now see your locals.

Thanks that does work. Thought I tried that yesterday but works today. However local channels don’t show up to be selected for favorites.

We recommend that you go through our article on changes to U-verse TV channels to learn more about why some channels may not be available.

Additionally, view channel info on your TV, a mobile device with the U-verse app, or online PDF reffering this article- U-verse TV channel info.

Thanks, but still would like to see local channels on the Favorites list.  I don't see any way to select local channels as favorites.

Apparently someone decided that you would only use favorites in order to view channels, not add recordings or anything like that.  It's like the recording functionality was added as an afterthought to an app that let you view stuff.  Hmmmmmmm.....

Hi @ronlundine,

Hope you're doing well.

We understand your concern. And would like to point you in a right direction.

Let’s make sure you can easily access your favorite local channels on your U-verse TV. Here are some steps to help you add local channels to your Favorites list:

Using Your U-verse TV Remote:

  • Press the “Guide” button on your U-verse TV remote control.
  • Navigate through the channel guide to find your desired local channels (such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, etc.).
  • Highlight the channel you want to add to your Favorites list.
  • Press the “OK” or “Enter” button to select the channel.
  • Look for an option to “Add to Favorites” or “Mark as Favorite” (the exact wording may vary).
  • Confirm your selection, and the channel should now be part of your Favorites list.

Using the U-verse App:

  • Open the U-verse app on your compatible smartphone, tablet, or wearable device.
  • Tap on the “Guide” section to view the channel listings.
  • Find your local channels in the guide.
  • Similar to the remote control method, look for an option to “Add to Favorites” or “Mark as Favorite” next to the channel.
  • Save your changes, and the channel will be added to your Favorites.

    Accessing the Channel Lineup Online:
  • Visit the page.
  • You can view and print the channel lineup based on your U-verse TV geographic location.
  • Look for your local channels in the list and note down their channel numbers.
  • Then follow the steps above to add them to your Favorites.

Remember that U-verse TV channel lineups can vary based on your location and the U-verse TV package you have. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to us.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Um, Miss Emma, dear:  The favorites selection does not list the local channels.  You don't pick favorites from the grid, but from Settings > Favorite Channels, which doesn't seem to have any user-selectable filters.  A heart or pin symbol on the grid would have been much better.

I agree COMPLETELY with JefferMC (except for the snark).  The app has NO option to make ANY channel (not just locals) a favorite directly from the TV guide as Emma suggests.  The old app had this feature but Emma apparently has not used the new "improved" version!  You must go to Settings > Favorite Channels and that screen has very limited options for selecting favorites including NO local channels and it is also missing a number of channels that appear in the TV guide.

Is this problem going to be fixed?  Or is there a way to get the old app back?

Please keep using the app, giving feedback and checking for updates.  There are many additions/updates coming.

The app is now absolutely useless trash. Nothing is intuitive or works as well as it used to. In fact, almost everything simply does not work at all. It makes me want to cancel my AT&T services and switch to your competitor.
