Uverse stopped working on PC

My husband uses a PC and has a uverse box in his hobby room to watch uverse on his PC.  It's been working fine, for the most part, for several months. Now it will no longer play.  He's unplugged the uverse box from the PC and reconnected it. It lights up like it's fine and wants to work but it doesn't.  He's gone through Best Buy's Geek Squad with absolutely no help - they are just dumber than dirt.  No one seems to know how to get it working again.  Any suggesitons?

Has he rebooted the PC and uninstall the video device/card for viewing Uverse TV and then re-installed it?  Only other thing is the video device/card for viewing Uverse TV may be defective. Smiley Surprised

You are saying THe output of the U-verse STB is connected to some kind of input on the PC.

Is it composite video (yellow/red/white jack) or COAX or something else.

Is it a video card on the PC input.

A good test would be to swap the STB with another one. IF the problem follows the STB , you need a new one. If it stays with the PC it is probably a setting. e.g If it is connected COAX the PC tuner must be set to analog chan 3.

Hello...more info....

It is controlld by windows media center.

To active open windows media center, scroll down to tv, click on 'live tv'...and that is how he normally watches it.

  • Everything has been recycled,
  • disconnected & reconnected
  • all cables & wires are fine
  • The signal from uverse box is good.
  • The computer recognizes the device
  • all drivers uninstalled & reinstalled and updated.

At a road block!

Thanks!

The problem is in the media room software. Such as - you were using the media room to change the channel on the STB via an IR blaster. A setting got changed & the media room is changing the channel on the video card. The channel on the video card must remain on analog 3 to cnnect it through to the media room.

Yes, he's rebooted and no success.

The computer works fine and all the lights come on the uverse receiver, it seems as if they are suddenly (out of the blue) just not connecting/speaking to one another.

It's worked fine for about 2 years now nothing.  Mulitple 'geeks' from the Best Buy geek squad have tried...failed....now AT&T customer service doesn't seem to grasp the concept.

What gives...does no one else on this planet watch tv through their computer in this manner?

*sigh*
