Uverse TV app

I am considering signing up for Uverse TV. There is one area I want to understand and that is what Uverse TV app can do on different devices. I can call AT&T and ask support, but I know better not to do that. 1) Is there an Uverse Roku channel? If yes, does it support live broadcast and on demand? 2) Is there an Uvese app for Samsung smart TV? If yes, does it support live broadcast and on demand? 3) Does Uverse apk support output to hdmi devices (like an Android TV box)? 4) Does Uvsere app support live broadcast while on the road ( non AT&T home wifi) 5) Can you cast, mirror Uverse programing from Android cell phone or tablet? Thank you.

I had figured out already what your intentions are. But you can’t have U-verse without at least the main DVR box. You do realize that, right?

Smiley Wink Yes, I do. The main box is included with the subscription.

Roku is a separate streaming service.  Uverse does not have a Roku app.  Uverse provides live streaming to channels in your package and the On Demand library

2) Is there an Uverse app for Samsung smart TV? If yes, does it support live broadcast and their On demand?
The Uverse app is only available on these platforms:
  • iPhone/iPad/iTouch (iOS 9.3 and above)
  • Apple Watch
  • Android smartphones and tablets (OS 4.1 and above)
  • Android Wearables (Android Wear OS)
  • Amazon Fire TV devices
3) Does Uverse app support output to hdmi devices (like an Android TV box)?
See list above.

4) Does Uverse app support live broadcast while on the road (non AT&T home wifi)?
I believe so but it will use your data on your mobile device (see list above) or use a hotspot.

5) Can you cast, mirror Uverse programing from Android cell phone or tablet?
I believe if you Samsung has mirroring you can mirror.  Someone can provide more info on that.

Thank you.

@tim horton  In addition to answering the above questions, you might want to check out the info on the Uverse App HERE

The Uverse app on Fire TV and stick is only a subset of what a STB offers.  It does work well for what it is. But don’t get hung up on the Uverse app itself. Package subscription will allow viewing on individual apps on the Roku.

Screen mirroring does work to an AppleTV, but not that well. Perhaps it works better to a TV, but I’d test it first.

Watching uverse on a cellular connected device does not count against your minutes if you have att wireless. And yes, it is live broadcast.

I don’t have an HDMI out cable. It should work but unsure if display resolution will be correct depending on phone used.

Thank you @skeeterintexas @gr8sho for your reply. If I understand correctly, live and on demand streaming on big TV is only possible for Fire TV and stick. Also streaming on cell phone data free is only possible for AT&T wireless customers with unlimited data accounts?

Data free on mobile off home network does not require unlimited data on wireless. I have 15G family share plan and can use.

The uverse app on firetv device does not provide local channels. Come to think of it, using the app on any supported device does not provide any locals in my geo.

Putting that aside, I don’t usually have any problems finding a way to stream live or on demand when using these devices.

Smiley WinkI don't intend to bundle the Uverse TV account with wireless since I want to keep my low cost family share of 20G if I need to drop Uverse in the future. So how I get them to work together  to get the "free data" streaming under different accounts?

Smiley WinkWhen you said "using these devices", you meant mobile devices? I am interested in getting the streaming on large TV without using an Uverse box.

Smiley WinkSmiley WinkI guess by log in to Uverse app while using AT&T wireless mobile data, they will figure that out.

About data free using U-verse app on cellular, best to read the marketing material to be sure.   I’m not sure that it should matter to have combined billing or a unified account.

Having just switched from Spectrum to Uverse, I'm very disappointed there's no Uverse app on the Samsung TV.  The Spectrum app was great.  No need for additional boxes for each TV.  Just fire up the app and you'll get every channel your DVR box receives.  (no playback of recorded shows though)

Sure I can playback every channel from a tablet or phone with Uverse app but then it's tethered to the TV.

I'm thinking once my contract is up it's time to switch back.

Yes to the Android TV box. I have the H96Max (4gb/   64gb ) Uverse is an available app in the Play Store. While Hulu isn't available.. finding Uverse made up for it. This box is capable of awesome 4k quality streaming. Best $45 I ever spent.
