The u-verse app is not designed for watching u-verse TV. It offers a selection of "on-demand" programming.
If you will be traveling regularly & want to watch your U-verse TV, you can get a slingbox or other similar device & set it up with the IR blaster to control the STB & play the live or recorded programming that you can access from any browser or an (extra cost) slingbox app.

Actually, you can watch quite a few live TV channels with the U-verse app. Some require you to be connect to your home network. Others are available to be watched outside the home when not connected to the network. It is not just On Demand content that is available.
U-verse.com does have a category "live". But, it is not live & the selection is not 100% of a customers subscription level.
Any show that you want to watch from London/Paris may or may not be available, even though it is in the subscribed package because att does not have a contract to include it in the selection available on uverse.com.
It is not live because, if it is listed you can watch the whole episode at any time. That is you can watch it on demand. On demand is not a tyoe of show it is how one can watch it. If it were live watching time would have to match playing time. Perhaps current is a more accurate description.
a selection of "on-demand" programming is a more accurate description than live. Live means connecting to the RG/STB & selecting what to watch as if in the same room.
As long as the network is streaming their programming it can be viewed as it airs live. Some networks either don't stream or have given ATT permission to broadcast their streams.

I disagree. You can join movies and sports events in progress on various channels.
Don't forget that AT&T doesn't support Chrome. imbecilic decision.
