What kind of cat cable should I use?

My tv picture freezes sometimes. When I had a tech out to check out the problem he said that I should run a cat 5 cable to replace the coax that I have. Is there any particular brand I should use? What requirements does it need? Now they have cat 6a, can I use that?

no specific brand needed, and yes CAT5 and CAT6 will work.

Actually freezing in coax installs are usually from loose coax connections somewhere in the system.  Main thing is to have the coax Nid to RG connection changed to cat 5e if it's still coax there

That solves alot of problems.  Also keep all coax connections wrench tight, that solves many coax problems.  This way you don't have the hassle and expense of putting in new cabling.

ATT avoids coax like the plague now using up to 2 wireless STBs in installs.  Doesn't mean a coax install has to re-cabled w/cat 6A. Smiley Surprised
