Why can you only watch 4 receivers????
I have 6 tvs, and pay for 6 receivers, why is it that as advanced as AT&T is I can only have 4 receivers going at the same time or the 5th and 6th have to be on the same channel as another or watching a recording? Why pay for 6 when we can really only watch 4?!? When is this going to get resolved so we can watch what we pay for?

U-verse is limited to 4 live streams which are used to watch and/or record live TV. That is what you pay for.
If 2 or more TV's are watching the same live channel, that counts as the use of one stream. You can also watch recorded progamming on other TV's when all live streams are in use.

You CAN watch 6 receivers at a time. You can watch up to 8. The caveat is that only 4 of those can be LIVE. The others would be watching recording(s).
Uverse is not a perfect fit for everyone. It's a shame that the 4 live stream limit is not explained when potential customers inquire about the service. 4 streams is more than enough in our household but I can see it might not be for everyone.
If your 2 extra receivers are only being used for LIVE TV, then send them back and save the monthly lease fee.

@skeeterintexas When we got 4 HD that solved alot of my recording problems, but even now I wish we had 5 HD streams as I needed it a few times the past few weeks, even though I'm single here.
Having to record Nascar Infinity and Sprint cup races/practices, PGA and European (some Asian) tour golf, FA Cup and mens/women USA soccer, among others and all my Network and cable channels too.
That doesn't even cover April in the D' on FS Det 1737, Red Wings, Pistons and Tigers games. Get real bad when all 3 have games at same time. Thank God for FS Det alt and replays of all overnite and next morning.
In any instance I can't record something, search for the repeat and delete that one and schedule the repeat. 😉

Perhaps the first question you need to ask yourself is, "Why do I have six receivers, anyway?" I assume you have TVs in six different rooms, in which case, even though you can watch only four different channels (not including recordings) at once, you still want six receivers for the convenience.
If you, or anybody else, are wondering why, say, Xfinity lets you watch/record pretty much unlimited numbers of channels at once, it's because of the nature of how the two systems work.
"Coax" systems like Xfinity send the house every channel at once; in turn, every channel is sent to every TV and DVR.
Pros: you can watch and record pretty much any number of channels at once (limited only to the number of tuners inside your DVRs).
Cons: in order to do this, the signals are heavily compressed, and usually two or three channels have to share the same frequency. The main reason I switched from Xfinity to U-Verse four (or was it five) years ago was, the compression was causing major freezing and pixellation on some channels - especially CNN.
U-Verse sends you only the channels you are currently watching/recording; the hardware inside your house sends the request to some central server, and the server sends back only the necessary channels.
Pros: picture quality can be much better.
Cons: you are limited in how many channels you can watch/record at once.
