Why do i need to restart my DVR every time i loose power?
Why do I have to restart my DVR and my wifi receiver every time I loose power? This past Friday I lost power for about 10-15mins and all my shows that I have scheduled to be recorded for 5 days were not recorded because of the dvr needing to be restarted.

The dvr needs to access the att system in order to fully reboot and it needs the gateway working to do that. When the power returns the time it takes the dvr to reboot is faster than the time it takes for the gateway to reboot. So the dvr's reboot is incomplete because the gateway is not yet fully rebooted. So that requires you to reboot the dvr again.
It does get annoying. Been there done that. But after you have been "spanked" a couple of times you learn to remember to reboot the dvr after a power failure when the gateway is fully rebooted.

If I am home that is not a problem...but when I am out of town it becomes an issue

Hello @wsisaacs
Can you elaborate on your response? Are you saying that if you're home and lose power the DVR doesn't need to be rebooted?

If i am home and I loose power on the tv it says that the dvr has to be restarted. So I restart the DVR. When I go on vacation and nobody is home to restart the dvr. Then of course it doesn't record my shows.....so I either have to miss them or buy the episodes ... eg NCIS...

Thanks for the clarification! When going on vacation, you may want to use the U-verse app to record your favorite shows so that you don't miss them in the event that your power goes out. Learn more about it here!

It does not work that way.... The U-verse app does not help.... If the DVR has to be restarted nothing is recorded even if the U-verse app show the tv show should be recorded. And if the DVR is down you can not manage any shows that are recorded...in other words you can not even delete a show....the U-verse app might say it is deleted and not show in the app but once you exit and come back into the app the show(s) you thought you deleted are there again.... basically if the dvr needs to be restarted you can not do anything with the U-verse app.

I understand what you're saying and I'll pass your feedback along to the appropriate team members. However, when it comes to your electricity going out, there isn't much we can do to keep you from losing recordings, simply because the receiver has to be rebooted. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you. If you have any other questions or concerns, let us know.
