Discovery+ is NOT a channel.  It is a (paid) STREAMING SERVICE.  It includes all of the channels in the Discovery family like TLC, HGTV, A&E and Lifetime.

If you get Discovery in your package, nothing will change.

All I can say is, we pay enough as it is for this service. If they insist on putting programs on a Paid Streaming Service, they will lose viewers. I will not pay an extra $7 per month just to see some not so great shows.

Apparently you are unclear on how a streaming service works.

Again, you are NOT LOSING any programming that is included in your package and you don't have to pay any extra.  *smdh*

Yes, we are as some programs that were on Discovery, will now be on Discovery Plus .. But in a lot of cases, they will usually be on another channel later on.

I do understand, but does not mean I have to like it. I do not need to make these companies or their so called stars, any richer by paying to watch them. I already pay for cable service / internet and it is about $210 per month. Extra fees are not viable or desirable.

@bruceb   WHY WOULD YOU SUBSCRIBE TO DISCOVERY+ IF YOU ARE GETTING ALL OF THE PROGRAMMING IN YOUR UVERSE PACKAGE????

@JefferMC   Do we just go ahead and throw in the towel now?

Also: U-Verse is NOT cable.

We didn't lose programming when Disney+ or ESPN+ launched. Did we lose programming when HBO Max launched?

New direct streaming packages are a new way for content providers to try to make money.  They put exclusives there to try to lure people who already have access to the linear channels to pay for them.  ESPN does it with ESPN+.  Disney+ offers things not on any of their linear channels.  Discovery+ is no different.

If you don't like this, that's fine, but it's not AT&T's fault or problem to solve.

Not only are broadcasters looking to monetize their assets using the internet as a conduit to consumers, ISPs are going to continue to ask a surcharge for unlimited data which is needed to stream video.  This is the cost of having more selective programming.

Will Directv reduce the price of my package due to the list shows?

All channels* will remain in your package.

Discovery+ is geared towards those who choose to stream content and NOT subscribe to a TV provider....commonly known as "cutting the cord".

*DIY Network will be replaced by The Magnolia Network.

@HopeMcCloud , do you think Discovery dropped the price to AT&T for their channels?  If you do, I have a bridge I'd like to unload on you.  Did CBS remove commercials from local stations when they launched CBS All Access?  Same answer.

@skeeterintexas

You do realize that DIY being replaced will result in tons of one-post-wonders demanding the return of DIY and that "XfinityDishSpectrum would NEVER pull such shenanigans! I paid for a year contract! AT&T has to uphold their side of the deal!"
