Windows 10 app retired?
Windows 10 app retired? Why?
Then when you go to the u-verse website it says;
Steaming via browser will no longer be available after October. Download the U-verse app for your iOS, Android or Amazon devices to keep streaming.
The Windows 10 app has many uses. U-verse can be viewed from desktop/tablets, mobile phones and also the Xbox One. More reliable than your IOS/Android or Amazon apps. 1 of 5 people in a room uses a phone to watch things (besides YouTube/Facebook), unless if the app supports Chromecast.
Bring back this app.

I was also upset over this when I heard about it last year. I actually called customer support to ask why. I was not given a clear answer except to use a mobile device or switch to DirecTV. I watched U-verse on Windows 10 much more than Android, and can not understand them taking down an app and service that was working just fine. The website for watching U-verse live thru a browser was also taken down. Just to push one of their own competing products? What else is the reason? More than a little frustrated if you can not tell. Thanks AT&T, I will really remember this.

Actually I think you answered your won question. That is to switch to DirecTV. They are, I believe, just trying to push people toward directv by getting by with as little support for uverse tv as possible. Remove features bit by bit, don't update the dvr UI or fix its bugs, etc. Basically they are treating uverse a a deprecated product.

DirectTV is not a good option. I always think about the going into bars or restaurants during a thunderstorm here in Houston and the screen being frozen.
I have a 1 Gb fiber line run to my house. It is fantastic. I not only have internet, but also Uverse an a land line on it. It never goes down. Trading that in for a satellite dish would be nuts.

@texgeekboy - I never said DirecTV was a good option, only what I think att is trying to do.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you thought DirectTV was a better option than Uverse. I was hoping some suit at AT&T saw my comment.
I agree with you. It's been obvious for almost a year their big push to satellite. Last time I went to an AT&T store for a phone upgrade, the saleslady wouldn't shut up about it. I had to be quite firm with her to tell her to stop. I told her she was lying about the signal getting interrupted in the big storms, and that putting a dish on my garage is something I won't do.
What's really strange is the push they have for fiber and trying to go with DirectTV as well. Someone in AT&T marketing can't quite figure things out.

Since DTV has no internet of their own they have to push att internet (copper or fiber depending on where you live) as part of their sales pitch.

I was a very early user of UVerse in my area and thought it was great. But after AT&T bought DirecTV, I wondered for a couple of years if and when UVerse would be discontinued or not supported any more. So after awhile, I took the $89.99 a month deal for DirecTV TV, internet and phone for 2 years. That 2 year period is about to expire and since I was having a billing issue that I could not seem to reconcile over their 800 number, I went to my local AT&T office. The people their fixed my billing problems and also informed me that I would qualify as a new customer and get the 12 month promotional deal if I went back to UVerse. I was thrilled as I never did care for DirecTV television (and I am not talking about satellite issues but the complexity of their TV remote control on-screen menus.). 2 agents in my local AT&T office also stated that they felt that UVerse was here to stay for a significant time. So, in my opinion, do not switch from UVerse to DirecTV just for the app.
