I have 1 std tv that with a std receiver that is messed up. I do have a splitter.. it goes to one hd tv which works fine, and to this one, that now does not work, even though it worked fine for 10 months...? I brought the non-working std receiver to another tv , hooked it up and it did not work on that tv.

No, I do have a splitter on the TV that is having issues... can I put in another mult-switch to replace that splitter?That cable line runs upstairs inside the wall & it would be impossible for me to run a new dedicated line.

it was installed by the Direct TV tech.. yes there is a multi-switch = or splitter that he installed near the entry point of the service. It was installed last Nov.
