Why is it that when I first log on I have a small screen that shows it is full screen. I have to click the icon for partial screen then click on the full screen icon to get a full screen?

TV working fine...Friday evening sudden onset snowy screen and fuzzy quality to voices. Turned of DirectTV box and the TV screen saver came up crystal clear. I am assuming this is Direct TV box problem. The dish is clean and no branches obscuring transmission. Where do I go from here?
