Can I stream live coverage of 2018 Olympics on my desktop computer?
The NBC website says I can stream the Olympics live on line, but when I click verify and chose U verse as my provider I get caught in a loop and can't get out of it. Just go back and forth between screen where I click verify and screen where I click on U verse.
Recently AT&T took the online guide web site away from us older folks who don't have smart phones. This guide web page seems to be necessary to verify we are u verse customers. Is this why I cannot view live streaming from NBC?

FWIW I use Firefox 48.0.2 (currently FF is up to 58.0.2) and have no problems so I really don't trust NBC's list of support devices.

Some people are very adamant about wanting to stream on PC or MAC, so hard to tell sometimes what the ultimate goal is. Thanks for clarifying.
Streaming on a TV seems to work best using a purpose built device like FireTV, AppleTV and Roku to name a few. Some will also throw Chromecast in there too. Your Uverse subscription then comes in very handy because apps from the content providers offer more than what you're offered from Uverse dedicated hardware.

Just tested streaming on nbsports using Windows 7 via Internet Explorer. Worked fine.

I just tried using IE 11 on Windows 7 and I was able to verify to NBC that I was a U verse subscriber and I am able to watch the 2018 Olympics live on my desktop computer. I prefer, and continue, to use Roku to view it on my TV.
Just to clarify. I never wanted to use my laptop or desktop to stream on my TV. I think this is called casting. I just never thought of using the Roku device I have. I only ever use it for Netflix. And did not think of using it to stream content from NBC website. I thought the only way to stream a website was on one of my computers. I do it all the time using Chrome to view live webcams.
The problem was NBC needed to verify I had U verse and this was not possible to do using Chrome. But it was possible on IE 11.
I have no idea why. Chrome Help Forum has no info and was no help.
Thank you to all who responded and helped.

Chrome and Firefox have deprecated Adobe Flash. This can be one reason. The complexities of browsers and what they do and don't allow is possibly one of the contributing factors to sunsetting uverse.com. But if you know which browser to use when, it works well enough.
NBCsports just isn't one of those things that's worth watching on a PC for the sake of then replicating to a TV. Even if you could get Chrome to authenticate you, it might still block you from casting. Content providers are very strict in what they allow to be played to a TV. One of the best examples I can think of is Xfinity Stream. You can watch it on a smartphone or tablet, but none of the content can be sent to a chromecast or apple screen mirroring or miracast. And no equivalent version of the app that runs on any streaming device.
Come to think of it, you can't do it with the Uverse app either, but in the case of Uverse, there is an actual FireTV app that can act as a surrogate settop box if in a pinch.
As you point out, a streaming device like a Roku is the best way to go for something like watching the Olympics, or the World Cup in the summer.

I'm having this exact same issue. I'm running Windows 10 and Chrome 64. Also, I was streaming just fine from NBCOlypmics.com from my Surface and as soon as the Uverse TV coverage stopped (around 12:30am CST), I got the "30 minute free trial" starting again and the live streaming from the website won't let me verify again. It's giving me the annoying "We're Sorry Null" error again.
FYI... my att.net username and password work just fine.
UPDATE: I am able to watch some of the live streaming (the "Snowboarding, Alpine Skiing, speed skating and more" one... but not the "Hockey, Ski Jumping, Snow Boarding and More").

Why are you using Chrome, because you want to stream to Chromecast? Have you tried using Edge browser.

I found a solution to this problem!
I was also getting the "We're sorry null" error not only on NBC's olympics site, but also on ABC, WatchESPN and USA network streaming services.
For provider, instead of U-verse I chose DirecTV, and all of a sudden all the streaming services worked for me, using my AT&T login information.

I was having the same problem, so I called AT&T Uverse tech support. They told me that AT&T and NBC are still in "Negotiations," whatever that means. I hope they finish their negotiating soon, since the first week of the Olympics is halfway over.

Alright guys... I think I may have figured it out. I'm getting the "We're Sorry" error because of my Uverse package. I have Uverse TV, but only the basic package. When you go to the NBCOlympics.com website, you'll notice that there are multiple videos that have "LIVE" on the video. You'll also notice that some of those videos have another icon like "NBC", "CNBC", or "NBCSN". I just realized that the times when I get the "We're Sorry" error message, I was clicking on one of the NBCSN "Live" streams (which I thought was just a fancy way to spruce up the standard "NBC" icon). Turns out that NBCSN is it's own channel (channel 1640 on uverse) and I don't have that channel included in my package. Smart business for NBC to choose different channels to stream different events... because now if I want to watch any of the hockey pre-lims, I'll have to upgrade my package (LAAAAMMMMMEEEE).
So it looks like the only time I'll be able to stream Live feeds from the NBCOlympics.com website is when the basic channel NBC is airing olympic coverage. Anyway, I hope this helps out some other people frustrated by not being able to stream on NBCOlympics.com.

I tried what you did.... didn't work for me unfortunately. The DirectTV login didn't recognize my ATT.com userid and password.

I realize now that it only worked on my phone when I was using cell data. Trying to stream on my computer gives me a failed login if I choose DirecTV as well.

I spent an hour on ATT chat. Try this then that, then finally said they have a system wide issue after much wasted time.
Per ATT: Many of the customers are facing issue on NBC.
I just tried my smart phone app and it's been spinning for 10 min. Not happy!
