Channel Block should be program block

I have a 4 year old grand daughter that was told not to watch Sponge Bob I cannot block Sponge Bob and  cannot block that channel becuse everything else she watches is on that same channel. Come on Uverse give us a way to block a program not a channel.

I believe you can block programming with PARENTAL CONTROLS.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

The problem is that your only choices are (a) channel and (b) content rating.  You cannot block, for example, all episodes of "Sponge Bob,"  without blocking all shows with the same content rating or on the same channel.  I do not know of any provider that has such a feature.

However, you can tell your children not to watch it.  I sat and watched it with my children the second time it came on in my home and told my children it was banned from that point on.  I had no trouble with compliance.

There should still be a way to block a program with an option to block ALL. As our recivers get smarter I see no reason for this not to happen in the future.

Everyone has their own standards.  I found it vapid and crass and encouraged undeserved mirth at things that I found repulsive.  So I told my children they were not to watch it.  And they didn't.

My previous answer was aimed at more clearly describing what you wanted and what is actually available now.  It does sound like a feature that could be developed. If I get the ear of anyone who can take suggestions for STB features, I'll share the idea.  Note, however, that matching titles is not foolproof; note some issues that occur in series recording (which is based on show titles) when show names are subtly changed to include suffixes or subtitles.  But better than nothing.

My youngest (now 28) watched South Park (!!) and even had the boxed set but she's never been in trouble, always on the honor role in school and the Dean's List in college.  She went to college out of state and has studied abroad.  She graduated cumlaude from a prestigious law school and is now a successful lawyer making 6 figures.

What they see going on in the own home will influence them way more than what they see on the TV.

Just my 2 cents. Spend it wisely.

P.S.  I AM FURIOUS THAT I HAD TO MODIFY THE WORD ABOVE!!!!!!  I'm sorry....it's freakin' Latin!!!!

That was your call, and only your call (okay, DH may have had some input).  Mine was my call, and we can respect each other's opinions.  I don't think that the content review board will always make the same decision as any given parent would, and if a parent doesn't want the kid to watch something, the parent has the responsibility to keep him from watching it.  If technology can assist, that's fine.

Re: the latin word, people have problems posting the text from RG's displays containing AT&T's own abbreviation of cumulative.  smh.
