DirecTV cancelling Newsmax

I am a 12 year subscriber to DirecTV & have had AT&T cell service for 15 years. I am EXTREMELY disappointed that DirecTV is cancelling Newsmax—the last (Edited per community guidelines) news channel. If this is not resolved with Newsmax being restored I will be cancelling my subscriptions.

AT&T using their privileged position as a major communications provider in US to discriminate against conservatives is not acceptable. Canceling Newsmax and OAN on their Direct TV platform, if not reversed immediately, will confirm they are not only a hypocritical company but anti-American and a partisan (Edited per community guidelines) arm of Democrat party. If not corrected, I will no longer support or use their services — and encourage others to do the same.

AT&T/Direct TV proving they are (Edited per community guidelines) arm of radical left. Behaving just like Twitter in embracing censorship and spitting on freedom. Why should any true American be funding their agenda? My accounts will be dropping shortly. If enough are consistent, they won’t have enough customers to wield as a weapon against freedom and truth anymore.

I will be canceling my mother's cable with Diretv this weekend due to this company taking free speech off the TV  ( Newsmax). We will be switching to Dish. My info is that your company has already had over 7 million people boycott you for this and more to come. I'm glad I personally don't use your cable or phone service,bc from what I've read, not good.

First off, Directv is satellite tv, not cable. However, no one here cares why you cancel. If you want to cancel, go ahead.

I would take a guess and say that number came from Newsmax!  🤣🤣🤣🤣

NewsMax wanted $1/mo/customer when they give their product for free on their website.

Say AT&T has 75m customers.

That's $75,000,000/mo.

For something they're giving away for absolutely free.

Don't all the channels currently receiving fees also post content for free on their websites?  They did the same thing to OAN last year...

@bsbingham1

You can watch NewsMax live for free on their website, as already said.

Not just content or archives, but the actual live channel.

It is hard to understand why, other than out of fear, or perhaps favor(s), that an organization such as yours would cater to, nay cower from, a handful of self-absorbed, and scared members of congress (oddly enough democrats, surprise surprise) to deny a component of this nation access to a news channel that covers (as did OAN), the stories the "major news networks" refuse to.

While you probably think you have censored a faction of this country, it is truly you that has allowed themselves to be censored....apparently done voluntarily, as if a handful of republicans had asked, you would have refused on the grounds of free speech.

An old timer once told me "you don't have to like someone to take their money".......words you may wanna take to heart, if for no other reason that most people do have to appreciate someone to give them money........lucky for me I have options, and choice......I DON;T HAVE TO GIVE YOU MONEY!

It is my fervent hope that you suffer tremendously financially for submitting to the desires of  cowards such as you did!

Have a nice day!

My family is a LONG time customer of AT&T but we will be cancelling our services due to the censorship of (Edited per community guidelines) news outlets. That's ALL !!!

So I had heard that Direct TV was going to take away Newsmax, I checked my Uverse and it was still showing on the listing guide, however, it too was gone.  Who does ATT think that they are?  Everyone needs to write to our Senators and House representatives and let them know we are NOT in Communistic nation yet....  You see they do not want the truth to be told.  Do not be silent.....  They do not want us to know the truth.... SPEAK UP and Cancel....

This isn't the DirecTV forum nor is this an Internet issue.

Note that more than a week ago congress vowed to take a look at the DirecTV actions.

Closing this thread since it can't be moved.  If you'd like to continue posting about this, please go to https://forums.directv.com/

Why did AT&T cancel Newsmax, do you really think it is a good idea to practice censorship of free and open speech, 1st amendment…hello, if you do not restore Newsmax, I WILL CANCEL my AT&T service as soon as my contract is up, count on it!

Newsmax is demanding a carriage fee to carry their channel. DirectTv feels that the number of subscribers willing to pay would not justify the added cost. I for one do not watch Newsmax and do not feel I should pay for this service. There are other means to watch the show. Fire Tv and Roku carries it along with other streaming devices.

Not carrying a channel is not censorship or a violation of the 1st amendment. You clearly don’t understand the 1st amendment. Regardless, this is a forum of other customers. No one here cares if or why you cancel.

Dear Fl_retire,

How can I show my support of AT&T's decision to cancel NewsMax, besides continuing to be a customer?

To A11Fascism,

1) AT&T is a private company, not the government, so the 1st Amendment doesn't apply.

2) There are limits to free speech such as "that which would be directed to and likely to incite imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action."

He takes away NewsMax, a program more popular and trustworthy than he is from his subscribers because of his far left extremist political views and expects to keep us as members by bribing us with $50.00 and feeding us the line they were in negotiations. Does he really believe the subscribers are that ignorant? He must or he wouldn't be making those offers. By my dropping DirecTV going to change his decision, no, but it will take away a little of his financial worth. There are other cable companies out there that appreciate their customers business. I, being one of them.

I didn't realize DirecTV was a cable company.

http://forums.directv.com to get out of shape over them dropping a free channel that wanted money, despite offering their product for free.

I'm considering dropping Xfinity and stream Fubo. Does AT&T support Fubo. Also concerned that AT&T and Dish dropped Newsmax and OAN News. That is pure censorship and unconstitutional. If you would reinstate Newsmax and OAN I would seriously considering switching from Xfinity.

Fubo is a STREAMING SERVICE.  AT&T has no flesh in that game.  🤦‍♀️

I plan to switch my companies internet and cell phone service since att has decided to drop newsmax a top 20 channel from direct tv. This is censorship and not a profit based decision. Shame on att for using their company to play politics. We will vote with our capital.
