EPIX

Why when I have the U450 package, highest price as far as I know, does it not include Epix? Uverse is adding the Epix channels and, from what I'm told by a Uverse CSR, to get it I will have to pay $8 on top of the high priced U-450 package. Time for me to start looking elsewhere.

Epix has been offered for the last 4 years and it has always been an add-on.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'm late to the dance. I was only made aware of Epix as I saw an ad in the TV Guide for a new show that sounded good. My feelings about having to pay an add-on fee while paying the cost of the monthly U-450 tier, however, remain the same.  Time for some action on my part.

Do your research before you change providers. The new prospective provider may have additional cost add-ons that are already included in your U-450.

I didn't see EPIX offered on DirecTV so it is nice that it is available on Uverse. It goes to show you that there are more channels on Uverse because it is IPTV so there is no hardware limits on channels like DirecTV or regular cable IMHO.

You said there was a new EPIX series premiering. I think that there is a 50 / 50 chance there might be a free EPIX weekend in the works soon. Last free preview was on October 12, 2017. This is ignoring the traditional U450 free weekend on Thanksgiving of course. Watch for an alert on the Uverse app on your phone or tablet where ATT usually makes announcements like that.

Yes I just saw the new post on that blog. This is very interesting since the last EPIX free preview on October 12, 2017 was for multiple providers.

EPIX is having a Free Preview weekend June 14-17 according to a message in my message center. Deep State is the series that premiers on Sunday, 06/17.

I hope you're right but I can't find any information on an Epix preview on Uverse, just Dish.  https://www.freepreview.tv/

And what means "message center"?  What am I missing out on?

Hi skeeterintexas,

Using your left directional arrow on the remote you will see a UV option/info on the left side of the screen. Go down to HELP and hit OK. It will give you a account and information option. This info about your system and includes a message center.

Good to know.  If it's not right there when I turn on the TV, it's not happening!

@skeeterintexas

menu -> help -> information -> message center

Looks like good 'ol freepreview.tv doesn't update often enough to be always be completely reliable.  That or they expect people to check quite often.  The most recent item they have for uverse is dated May 2 for the past Starz preview.   Too bad.  But then I never watch those previews anyhow. If someone didn't post here I'd miss out on the free previews.   Smiley Frustrated

Yup, I depend on the forum posts to.  Not for free previews, just for others announcing new useless channels that have been added that I have to then go into the receivers and hide! Man Frustrated
