HBOgo

We pay for HBO, Showtime etc. we use the HBOgo app, Showtime anytime app, etc so when we travel we can still watch our shows.

Now if we connect through someone else's AT&T wifi, we are unable to log into our hbogo unless they also have an HBO subscription.

Part of the reason we pay for the subscription is the versatility of being able to watch shows while we travel for work and play. Denying access to a paid subscriber is not right and I want to know why this has changed all of a sudden and if this is how it is going to stay? We have our cell plan (two smart phones), internet and tv service through AT&T but I have no qualms about switching providers of any and all services to get the services I signed up for and not have them changed without any warning.

What I use internet for is none of your business and blocking my use of these subscriptions because of the internet portal I am on is akin to censorship.

I feel like you def. missed the part where he told you to go to uverse.com to access the content you currently can't access via the individual premium channel sites (hbogo, max go, etc.)

Sidenote-- when you say "where on uverse.com", I'm not following what it is you're seeking.. The entire website is just show and movie content (viewable by network/channels) from which an individual can then select what they wish to watch. There is no navigating the site to reach the content-- the site exists for the purpose of the content. I WILL say though-- that the individual premium sites (hbogo.com, etc) are MUCH better with less glitches and better responsiveness than the uverse.com option, so it just feels like a bad consolation prize provided by ATT as a work around option to something they severely fumbled. I personally want to access my content through the official apps and sites, not the janky curator-style site that AT&T has offered up as a solution.

I do not know if this has any thing to do with the problem, but I was able to use HBOGo when on vacation in Hawai'i from the local cable IP provider (not U-verse) recently and at another U-verse location other than my own for some time.  However, last night I accessed HBOGo from my laptop on my home network to watch a documentary that was not on demand (without any problems) and now I am receiving the same subscription error.  I have not tried to access it from my home network after receiving the error and do not know if it is still working at home.  I will post those results later.

Hey guys,

We should be clear that AT&T created this problem. We were able to get HBO Go earlier in the year until AT&T Uverse blocked it its usage; when you visit Friends and Family who also use AT&T Uverse and don't subscribe to HBO.

It doesn't encourage me to refer AT&T to my friends and family; I can't wait till HBO starts selling HBO Go outside of AT&T Uverse early next year.

I have Googled the generic issue "doe not include HBO" and HBOGO. It does not appear this is not restricted to AT&T. I have found instances with DirectTV, Cox and Comcast.

I hope that's not how you do your homework or research for all other things.

Here are some examples of the results of the Google search:

I have gone to these sites and verified similar issues.  It is not so much an error with one particular provider but a systemic algorythm which is causing the issue.  The purpose being in attempting to resolve the problem.

The problem is that HBO has the content, but they depend on the various and sundry ISP's to verify the subscriber's right to view the content.  HBO is terrified that someone is going to figure out how to fool them into showing content to an unauthorized subscriber, so if there's any hint at all that something isn't on the up and up during the authentication process, HBO will deny access.

I agree. I am pretty sure you are correct in that assumption. But I must say that I know where HBO is coming from. Pirating is a big deal and what many people don't know is that we end up paying for it one way or another.

Looking at my situation, HBOGO quit working after I used it on my network on my PC yesterday. My question was "Why would that make a difference?" I came home today to find that everything worked well on my network and I was even able to use more than one device at the same time. In fact, when I clicked on the SIGN IN, it didn't ask for my user id or password. That was my clue. I noticed that when I finished using it yesterday, I simply closed the browser without logging out. I have since logged out of HBOGO from my PC on my network and tomorrow I will try to access HBOGO from a different U-verse network and see what happens.

I'll keep you posted.

After logging off from HBOGO from my PC on my home network, I attempted to access HBOGO from another U-verse location without success.  I still get the "It appears that your AT&T U-verse subscription...".  I was able to access HBOGO from an non-U-verse network without any problems.

The only possible issue is that I did not log off my iPad from my home network.

When you say "another U-verse location,"  is this a subscriber with (or without) U-verse TV?

The U-verse network where I attempted to access HBOGO does not subscribe to any premium programming. However, I was able to access HBOGO prior to this problem.

I had a similar problem when I moved into my new home and HBOgo stopped working. I finally set up my TV and Roku box... I could not activate HBOgo. Everytime I tried, I would get a message saying I was not subscribed to HBO. The same thing would happen when I tried to watch HBOgo online from my computer. I searched the net high and low to find a solution and came up with NOTHING. So many ppl have the same issue with different service providers and no one has posted a solid solution.

Today I called ATT customer service and luckily had a very smart helpful rep who resolved my issue in less than 30 min. Which is pretty good compared to the post I have read.

Try this:

Open your browser and go to Uverse.com

Watch Game of Thrones

Open a new tab in the same browser, go to HBOgo.com (do not log out of uverse.com)

Sign up for HBOgo services and yes you will need to create a new user ID

Presto it works (hopefully)

Now dont ask me why this worked, I really don't know how to explain it...

Maybe HBOgo assumed I was trying to use someone elses account since moving my services gave me a new IP address???

Who cares, it worked.

p.s. you can use any show from Hbo,and if prompted you will need to install silverlight.

the whole point is to acquire liscensing from Hbo.

The problem is that when I try to "sign up", HBOGO automatically signs me in. I can't sign up to obtain a new user.

NEED HELP?
