INAPPROPRIATE MATERIAL ON CHANNEL 196 BUY IT
I am very frustrated. I have noticed for the 2nd time in the last 2 days channel 196 showing a pay channel called adamandeve.com or something like that. There are two women selling {Inappropriate content removed} adult material. We have all of our channells parental control blocked as we have 3 children. For some reason this channel is not being blocked and the show is unrated. Totally not appropriate.
What is the deal and how do we get rid of it. And we are seeing this during prime time, not in the middle of the night.

Hide the channel completely.
Press "Menu" on your remote. Then go to "Options", then "Channel Options", then "HIde Channels". Uncheck the desired channel(s).
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

You'll find that all over. Not just Channel 196. It's an Infomercial. They buy airtime on a lot of cable networks and local TV stations. Best thing to do would be to avoid letting your kids watch any "Paid Programming" or Infomercials if it's shown on the schedule. They're usually not rated.
I'm guessing you noticed this because 196 carries Infomercials 24/7

@pooldude, In addition to using Parental Controls to hide content by rating, you can also block unrated content. You can also block an entire channel, regardless of content. Or, you can do as Skeeter suggests and Hide the channel from the guide.

Thank u all for the suggestions. I just blocked that specific channel. I was quite surprised that this was unrated and not blocked during prime time. Very explicit.
Thanks again.

I have all adult content blocked, and even have the individual channels hidden, but went upstairs tonight to discover channel 144 (Lucky), has two women selling various {Inappropriate content removed}, and the next program is along those same lines. Frankly I am FURIOUS to find this content on a TV we set up to be appropriate for kids. This is clearly adult content, and should not be aired on a channel that is not identified as having adult content.
Adult content should be limited to channels parents can identify with a reasonable amount of due diligence. Does anyone know who to file a complaint with? (I'm not clear if the Public Utilities Commission in Texas covers ATT Unverse or not).

@UserInTx The FCC has something called Safe Harbor which refers to the hours during which broadcasters may transmit material deemed indecent for children. These hours are 10p to 6a.
This "safe harbor" is based on evidence that children 17 years of age and under are less likely to be in the audience during these hours. S e xual content and foul language are lawfully channeled to times of the day when children are less likely to be in the broadcast audience.
If something offensive was broadcast BEFORE 10p or AFTER 6a , you can file a complaint. Otherwise, they did nothing wrong.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

I have no use for adult toys but I think the channel is pretty funny.
If you think that's bad, trying living in the U.K. where they had a program that ran during the DAY of a lesbian couple learning how to use adult toys. Apparantely, the U.K.s version of the FCC has no problem with that!
This was in August 2001. Don't know if that program is still on though.
