Keep News 9 / News on 6 / CBS (Oklahoma)

One of the things that makes me and my family stay with Uverse TV is Our local Channels!
I rely on News 9 in bad weather! They have the best local coverage for Oklahoma

DirecTV does well with keep the channels during these times. You can also keep up to date at www.directvpromise.com

Why would you drop a major network from your lineup?  I pay way to much money for service,  to have to wonder if I'm gonna retain certain programming.  The Superbowl is on CBS this year and if you drop CBS from your lineup I will cancel my service with you immediatly and find another provider.

They are not "dropping a major network."  The owner of your local station apparently isn't quickly agreeing to let AT&T continue to carry the station.  The station then has the nerve to tell its viewers to come post on these forums to get AT&T to pay more.  I'd suggest you call the station and ask them to make a reasonable deal with AT&T.

We have AT&T U-Verse and do not want to lose our local CBS station!! If it happens, we will definitely check out other cable companies that service our area.

AT&T makes every effort to reach a fair agreement to continue carriage; however, if we cannot reach a reasonable agreement with such programmer(s), we no longer have the rights to carry their programming on U-verse TV.

Every TV service provider, including cable and satellite companies, have to negotiate deals with TV networks and other programmers to deliver the shows, movies, and sports you want to watch. They all face similar demands and threats from TV networks during negotiations. This happens to most providers and is not exclusive to AT&T.

If AT&T gives in to every unreasonable demand that content providers make, we could not deliver a service that is priced fairly and competitively. And this could set a harmful precedent with other content deals and costs.

I'm Petitioning AT&T to keep channel 6 on their channels. They have the best weather with Travis Meyers and great shows like NCIS and The big bang theory. That's crazy to not give uverse members access to this local channel anymore! I will have to rethink my uverse subscription if they drop channel 6, and I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this way.

PLEASE keep News on 6, CBS, Tulsa. I have watched Young and the Restless since it started in 1973 and have not missed a day since. It is my lunch time to watch Y&R and have my sandwich. I also watch NCIS all the time and would be very upset to not get to see it. I went through this with Dish Network and CANCELLED them because of this same issue. I love Direct TV and do no want to cancel it. But I would have to reconsider if you take off channel 6. Dish network keeps offering me $100. to resign. But I like Direct TV a lot better. So PLEASE KEEP New on 6, Tulsa, OK

It's the local station that's doing the "threatening".

More information here ....

DirecTV and other service providers are at the mercy of local station owners trying to extract more and more of your subscription dollars.  Be sure to lobby with the local station also.  Fortunately DirecTV is usually able to resolve these negotiations before the station forces DirecTV to drop carrying it.  And ask yourself how much more you're willing to pay for a station that's provided for free over-the-air?  The fact that providers like DirecTV, Dish and Comcast have to pay to provide free stations has never made sense to me.

Please keep News on 6, Griffin Communications on the air.  This is the ONLY local channel that I watch.  Hopefully you can come to an agreement soon.

I have enjoyed ATT U-verse and hope to be able to continue using you.  But I will definitely change to Cox if you remove this channel from your lineup.

I have lived in Oklahoma all of my life and will not go without News 9 for my weather extrememly important in this state and the great news broadcasting.  I would have to change cable service before losing my News 9 OK.

Did the message on the TV mention that the reason there's an issue is because Griffin (who owns the station) wants to raise the rates AT&T pays?

Maybe you'd like to call and ask the station to make a deal with AT&T, too?
