Loss of channels
AT&T has failed to properly prepare for the anticipated end of contract negotiation with Nexstar - resulting in the loss of ABC station, a MAJOR network. This continues to happen, as in the past, when other channels were removed from the lineup - as your customers continue to pay increased costs in service. We set up another TV(purchased an antennae) that would give us this basic channel for the interim - assuming we will get the channel back at some time in the future! I think it's time to contact other providers who can provide continuing service that we PAY for and don't get with AT&T.

Earlier in the year, Nexstar was demanding a 129% increase in retransmission fees from a cable operator. It's logical to assume Nexstar continues to take advantage of their monopoly position to extort similar fees in each market as contracts expire. They do this with every cable company. Google on Nexstar and Cox.

I don't pay Nextar over $150/month for 12 or so years. I pay Directv for services and expect them to take care of this problem. Of all times for a blackout....what genius decided July 4th weekend was a good time for this. It should not have happened at all. This IS DIRECTV'S PROBLEM and I expect to be compensated for my inconvenience and I don't mean 4 or 5 bucks. The only thing acceptable to me would be a free month.

I also have a two-year agreement. If I can't legally leave Direct TV without penalty now for your failure to keep CBS and Fox as part of my channel lineup now, I will be leaving at my first opportunity in the next six months. You have broken your side of our agreement. Blame who you want, I blame you.

I am unable to watch CBS nor the women’s World Cup due to a dispute between direct tv and a provider. I pay for this channel and if I wanted to watch the women’s World Cup O would have to pay for it. Direct Tv refused to provide the channel free of charge and refused to allow me out of my contract told me to file a complaint. I will pursue this matter through State of New Mexico and Better Business Bureau

Hey @marcindublin,
AT&T has been unable to reach an agreement with Nexstar. This means certain local stations in parts of the country are currently unavailable. Visit https://soc.att.com/2TkYCrx to learn more.
Thank you for contacting the AT&T forums team!

Moved from wireless. The World Cup is on FOX, not CBS. Regardless, it’s not fraud and it was your local channel that pulled their signal from Directv.

How about you do the right thing for your customers and start knocking money off our cable bill?

I have been a Uverse customer for a long time. I called because my monthly charge was about to go up. The representative I spoke with offered me a promotional offer if I changed to Direct TV for lower monthly cost.. I made the changed end of June. Then July 4th Nexstar removes 2 channels I watch everyday. I was told this was a possibility to happen . Now I am stuck with a 1 year contract. I feel so deceived. Not a happy customer..

Really upsets me that I am missing the World Cup. Regardless if the channels pulled out we are still paying for them. I have another show I tape daily on there that I can’t watch. I don’t recall Direct having any issues before AT&T took over. We should be given another option to watch the World Cup. USA is playing! Not a happy camper

Here we go again 😞
Realize that the corporation that owns the stations pulled your channel, not DirecTV. This is an all too common negotiating tactic used by these corporations to extort more money from TV service providers. None are immune, so even switching providers won't help.
You will need to use an off-air antenna until they allow DirecTV to provide them again. If you can receive the station with an off-air antenna, this is a good time to request DirecTV’s Local Channel Connector (if you have HR44/HR54). It’s free. And some folks are getting a credit on their account, too. Call DirecTV …. 1 800 531 5000
You'll also want to contact the corporation that owns these stations. Request that they allow DirecTV to continue carrying them while negotiations continue. And ask them why providers like Dish, DirecTV and Comcast must pay them anything when they get to use our public airwaves for FREE?!? After all, these service providers increase their overall viewership and advertising revenue. They're shooting themselves in the foot!
The FCC and Congress could easily fix this. Just allow service providers to deliver an out-of-area station when local stations get greedy. But I fear that the broadcast TV lobby is too powerful to ever let that happen.

So you're willing to pay $160/month for DirecTV to simply cave into NexStar's demands for more of your money??? Really???
NexStar should realize they're shooting themselves in the foot by pulling their feed.

Get an antenna and watch over the air free. Or get CBS ALL ACCESS which is a paid streaming service.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.
