Lost detail on daily & weekly programs.
When I hit the info button on the remote, I expect to see the topics & guests on a show. No longer does that appear for Dr oz, steve harvey or real time with bill maher among others. You're taking away my choice to make an informed decision. Why?

@arbee123 I'd do a whole house reboot.
Unplug the RG and DVR and STB(s)and any WAP for wireless receiver(s), wait 30 seconds and plug the RG back in.
When that turns all green, then plug the DVR back in and wait until it reboots.
Then if there is a WAP, plug it in and let it turn green. Make sure it is 5-6' from the RG.
Then plug in the STB(s), wait til it reboots and see if Info comes back.
Acronym Guide so you understand all terms: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/17724
Good luck 😉

I did not lose the capability of getting the detail. The problem has something to do with what AT&T chooses to post as information for some shows. They are general and not very informative, so I can't make a choice based on the information provided. AT&T is requiring me to watch the show to determine if I want to watch it or not. I tried the re-boot, but I really suspected that this is not the problem I am experiencing. The problem is a corporate ATT decision to post a general description for some shows.

AT&T acquires its program descriptions from a 3rd party. I believe the last time this was discussed it was Titan TV
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Many channels put a generic description on the show when it first comes on about 13 days before the original air date. Then when it gets closer to the air date a more descritpive info is added.
An example I can give is the Young & Restless on CBS, on Sundays all the week's episodes are generic, on Monday we see that day. Then on Tuesday the rest of the week's specific infos download. Perevious to this they all used to download on Saturdays.
If you are not seeing these type of getting specific infos, contact @Fox Mulder send him a PM about this. Go to his profile (right click open in new tab) and message him below his picture/info. This is the job he covers, the EPG being correct.
Good luck 😉

I think this has always been a big issue - even deeper than you bring up. But it has always been brushed off. The essence of the the situation is that it just costs too much to do the whole job & there is not enough need to spend that kind of money. (80/20 rule??) To get the next 20% of detail would cost 80% of the expenditure.
My suggestion is - the method I use - Record the shows. Check the episode out at the beginning to decide whether to continue playing it or erase & pick another from the list. Not being tied to a live schedule is very freeing.
I always felt it is silly for an interview/talk type show to have a general description. Everyone knows the format & the host. The only important variable is the guests. But, they are not specified.
Many syndicated shows have different "guests" (most popular - Judge Judy) But, it is not really important to list their names in the INFO.
Same for Jeopardy. OTOH I do not watch it for the guests "buzzer skills" as listed in the INFO.
Then there are outright errors PBS seems unable to keep to the schedule they provide.
Or, the local show about the UCONN Huskies titled "Washington Huskies"
Last minute changes, such as sports games over-runs raise havoc with the schedule for the whole prime time. How often should the schedule be updated?
The possible improvements are endless, but the money is not. We could probably get a federal program to pay for it, but the quality would deteriorate instead of improve.

@aviewer Huh? 80/20 spend money? All 'new' programs will have an OAD on them, so know I'd want to record it and watch even if just has a generic info (some actually record w/generic info, but specific title).
And Fox Muldar can get things fixed, the Detroit Pistons/Red Wings were not being scheduled on FSDet (1737). So, I pmed him and after 2 nitely EPG downloads they were scheduled.
Having written that, I first had called FS Det and they said nothing they control there, but she'd let the person that handles it (giving info to Guide providers) know, so maybe that helped too.

@arbee123 Just looked and Dr Oz and Steve Harvey both had specific info on both for today's shows. On the 19th, Dr Oz has a generic info and Steve Harvey a repeat here in metro Detroit. Don't have HBO, so no info on Bill Maher. 😉

Well, I appreciate all the feedback. I just checked and there is still a generic description for both Dr. Oz and Steve Harvey. The Ellen Show seems to always have detailed descriptions. So, now I don't understand why you are seeing specifics and I am not. I also checked this coming Sunday for Bill Maher's show and its a general description as well.
I expect to see some generalities when it comes to reruns, but these are new shows. This didn't start happening until about 6 months ago. Before that, Dr. Oz always had specifics as did Steve Harvey and Bill Maher. So.....I think I'll try contacting Fox Muldaur and go from there. Thanks.

Also, not sure what OAD is. It's not on the acronym list.... 🙂
Anyway, I watch very few shows that are not recorded. I record everything, even the noon news, so I can just see the weather and delete the rest.
So, aviewer, I do what you do. I watch the first few minutes and then decide if I want to go on. I just don't understand why I lost that feature kind of out of the blue.
But, thanks for all the input.

Arbee,
I received your message. Will you please provide me with the call letters of the channels you are watching? I'll look into the generic or missing information and PM you back.
OAD = Original Air Date, it's determines if it's a new or a rerun.
Have a great day!!!!

Looking at Real Time with Bill Maher, the 4-7-16 episode is a rerun OAD 3/25/16.
The other airings have what we call a "Placeholder" It is nothing ATT is doing to you. Simply put, in this case, HBO, has not updated our EPG content provider with an updated schedule. I'll get this updated for April 8 airing.

Your Bill Maher issue is resolved. HBO was late on sending schedule updates to our EPG provider. U-verse, we do not create the schedule information in house, so no one is taking away your ability to make an informed choice We have a 3rd party that manages that data. Typically placeholders are used in every schedule while we wait for schedule updates from content providers. Which is most likely the root of all your concerns.
