You can use the "Hide Channels" option to remove the unwanted channels from the guide.

For a more customized experience and easier navigation through the Channel Guide, follow these steps to hide channels you don't want to appear in your Guide:

  1. Press Menu on your remote.
  2. Using the down arrow on your remote, scroll to Options and press OK.
  3. Select Channel.
  4. Scroll right to Hide Channels and press OK.
  5. Scroll through your list of available channels.
  6. Press the OK button to uncheck (hide) or check (view) channels.
  7. When you are done, select Save from the left menu, and press OK.

Just to further complete the above.  When you press menu->options->channel you will see in addition to hide channels another selection called edit/add favorites (ignore guide style for this discussion).  The Favorites allows you to create  a grid of just your favorites (actually multiple lists of favorites) which may be a subset of the the entire Guide.  The mechanics of defining the favorites grid it similar to hiding channels in the full Guide.

The remote gives you two choices of selecting channels.  First is when you press the Guide button to get the grid of channels the entire channel list without the channels you selected from the hide channels settings.  The other is pressing the "A" button (has a yellow triangle) to bring up your favorites grid instead of the full Guide.

I always recommend using the favorites grid instead the guide.  I defined my guide with basically all the channels I can have with my service (some edited out that I know I will never ever watch).  But my favorites is a much smaller subset of all the possible stations I can receive.  The favorites has the advantage of never changing.  The full guide on the other hand will reflect additional (and IMO, usually useless) channels as att adds them to the lineup.  So I always use the "A" button instead of the Guide button (there's been complaints i these forums that there should be an option to allow the Guide button to bring up Favorites instead of the Guide).
