Navigating AT&T TV NOW (Directv Stream)

I have recently added Directv Stream to my Roku streaming setup and find it very cumbersome to navigate.  Scanning channels to see what is on or coming on is painfully slow.  Even if I know what channel I want, with no number pad on the remote, I don't see any quick and easy way to get there.  Any suggestions?
