NFL Network & RedZone are gone

Can anyone, preferably from AT&T, tell me if NFL Network & RedZone are no longer being carried on U-verse? At 4:15pm today I tried to go to channels 1629 & 1630, but what I saw was a message saying “This channel is no longer carried” and there was a reference to TVpromise.org. First time I’ve ever seen that message. To me, that isn’t just that the NFL Network is offline with broadcast issues. It’s that U-verse has dropped those two channels. Anyone else have this issue or heard anything about it?

Unfortunately, I don’t foresee it happening.

Odd that it’s still accessible through the app.

Always understand how these mega corporations operate. AT&T is not negotiating to restore anything. Right now they are scheming to take away more channels. They are figuring out how many more jobs they can eliminate, and which ones. The ongoing goal is higher profit, to be funneled to the CEO and major executives of the company.

Nothing else matters. Too many people who have never worked behind the scenes of corporate America and haven't heard ownership laugh about all the tax breaks they are going to receive, and how many screw jobs they are going to aim at certain customers, continue to believe that these companies care about anything other than the bottom line. If AT&T could offer a test pattern on every channel for the same rate they would do it tomorrow and be laughing like those Enron guys.

Not on the Uverse app.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Oh, please, educate us.

AT&T is not negotiating to restore anything.

True. At this point, it's quite likely that negotiations with the NFL Network have ended, and the removal is permanent. This isn't a secret - AT&T has never said they're still negotiating and the NFL Network would be coming back. That's just wishful thinking from users.

Right now they are scheming to take away more channels.

AT&T can't "scheme" to take away more channels, because it's not AT&T's decision. It's the channel that pulls its rights off of AT&T's services, not AT&T.

But why would AT&T actually want to take away channels? It's a cable company. AT&T had a choice between raising prices and losing customers due to the price increase or not paying the NFL and lose customers who miss the channel. It chose the lesser of two evils.

The ongoing goal is higher profit, to be funneled to the CEO and major executives of the company.

True, but that's pretty much the goal of every company.

Well, yeah, but providing nothing for something would be the dream of every company. You think McDonald's wouldn't love to sell empty boxes for ten dollars each? You think Apple wouldn't sell wooden blocks for $1500 if it could? Wouldn't you love to get paid your regular wage, but not have to show up for work?

That said, don't you dare compare AT&T to Enron. Enron actively and eagerly destroyed people's lives, mine included. AT&T dropping the NFL Network is absolutely not the same as what Enron did.

What does this have to do with U-verse dropping the NFL Network channel?

Presumably one needs to use U-verse credentials to access content from network broadcasters.  I still see the U-verse logo displayed within the NFL network app.

It’s just a thing and understood is not a substitute for proper carriage of the channel.

Some of us are still lamenting the loss of beIN network and that one appears to be terminal.  Hopefully this one will be recovered.

@gr8sho -- Whereas beIN is a niche channel which lost of a lot of rights and wanted to be on lower tiers, the NFL Network really isn't a niche channel. The good news for most people is that they don't have exclusive games.

This issue seems to be about NFL Sunday Ticket possibly going to more providers and there is still plenty of time before the first games.

Anything sports is niche.  I know lots of people that live their lives and could care less about American football.

They do have 2 or 3 exclusive games on the NFL Network, but that's not the big problem. The bigger problem is the loss of the NFL Redzone which is how I consume Football on Sundays.

The overarching issue is that AT&T seems to be drawing a line in the sand when it comes to TV rights fees. I don't blame them since I think content providers are taking advantage of the situation, but I want to watch what I want to watch. A few years back, CBS was blacked out in Columbus, OH for 10 weeks. This is unacceptable, but so is double digit increases every year. Now, AT&T is charging you a "fee" that is not included in the quoted price for network access (and yet, blackouts still occur). Eventually, it'll all go ala carte and then some Clever Person will bundle all the services together again (Amazon) and on and on. Frustrating for all concerned, except the people getting rich.

For the record I just now attempted to watch NFL on the NFL network app. No problem. I can easily airplay that from my iPad to my TV through my Apple TV.

TOTALLY EXASPERATED AND FED UP WITH AT&T. I DOUBT THAT THERE IS A WORSE COMPANY IN THE USA THAN AT&T. THERE IS NO RESPECT FOR THE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR SERVICES OR AS I AM FORCED TO TAKE YOUR SERVICE DUE TO A CONTRACT MY APARTMENT COMPLEX & AT&T. NOT ONLY ARE WE UNABLE TO GET ANY REALISTIC INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THE NFL NETWORK'S WILL BE RE-CONNECTED WE ARE FORCED TO DEAL WITH AN UNINFORMED STAFF IN THE PHILIPPINE CALL CENTER. THERE IS NO PROVISION TO SPEAK WITH ANY MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL IN THE USA. ADDITIONALLY AS A FURTHER INSULT WE ARE GIVEN FALSE WEB SITES TO CONTACT AND NO REAL PHONE NUMBERS THAT ALLOW US TO SPEAK TO ANYONE. IT IS NOT RIGHT OR JUST THAT WE ARE DEPRIVED OF THESE CHANNELS ESPECIALLY WHEN WE PAY FOR THEM. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL'S  OFFICE AND I URGE EVERYONE IN EVERY STATE TO DO THE SAME.

THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS AND OUT OF HAND.

Assume that the NFL Network and Redzone are never coming back to U-Verse and DirecTV ever, and plan accordingly.

I agree with the overseas call centers. I believe that they have even outsourced the Customer Retention dept calls overseas. Frustrating enough that you can’t understand these people!
The last time that I called, I got nowhere with them, so I asked the the phone # to WHQ in Dallas, and they told me they didn’t have it. I said “ ATT is a multi billion dollar communication co. Why wouldn’t they have the number? I said never mind. I have it on file. They have really gone downhill!

NEED HELP?
