It's been a dead channel for over a year now. Watching it in the last few months was like going to that one mall in your town where 75% of the stores are closed and the Chinese fast food place is fixing to shut down.

Before anyone starts to blame  AT&T for this, read this article:

http://www.polygon.com/2014/11/17/7233183/g4-is-going-off-the-air-for-good

NBC Universal, the owner of G4, is shutting down the channel this coming November 30. AT&T is NOT dropping it due to a contract dispute.

Who will be the first to blame AT&T, and threaten to go elsewhere?

If you can find someone who will miss the current incarnation of G4, I'll show you someone who has bad taste in TV programming.

I remember when you could go into a video game store and they'd have G4 or TechTV playing on the TV in the corner.

It's like the last months of Nick GAS....just 3-4 shows on repeat cycles.

The interesting thing with this is that the channel guide shows programming into December. U-Verse is apparently without G4 as of 12/1, even though the channel officially goes off the air 12/31. We'll wait and see...

The article that I posted above said that G4 was going off the air on November 30.

Maybe no one BUT I bet we get at least one, "with the money that AT&T is saving on G4, surely they can get Hallmark."  Just you watch!  Srsly.  🙂

Dwinth -- Look at the Wikipedia page for G4. It claimed 12/31, last I checked.

The article from November 17, that I posted said November 30.

Wikipedia must have done an edit since you last checked. It now says, "According to a boilerplate statement sent by NBCUniversal Cable to the remaining small providers carrying the network, G4 will end all operations on November 30, 2014."

Your nickname makes me long for February 12, 2015, when the Cardinal pitchers and catchers report to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida.

That was it's downfall when it became G4, watched all the time when Tech TV was on, but stopped when Comcrap took over.  Tech disappeared and became all about games (which I have no interest). 😉

G4 was going to become Esquire Network. This was prior to September 2013. Then Comcast/NBCUniversal made a switcheroo: It replaced Style Network with a then-launching Esquire Network. The move was made because a number of multi-service operators were eliminating G4 from carried programming. So, Comcast/NBCUniversal opted to replace Style Network, due to having similar content with another of its programming brands, Oxygen, to better ensure carriage from MSOs. That, effectively, was the end of G4. And, whattya know!Comcast/NBCUniversal is also eliminating FEARnet, to be folded in with Chiller, as an unspoken/unwritten admission that Comcast/NBCUniversal had too many programming brands. (Or too many without focus.)

Was it Dish or Comcast that had Nick GAS on a continual loop until their contract ended?

Wikipedia: "Providers that have not already dropped G4 are expected to continue providing the network until the cutoff date (or when their contracts with G4 are fully exhausted)"

The uversechannels.com site still says 1/1/2015.

Not that it matters any, but the guide has information for G4 in December... I wonder if U-Verse got some short reprive similar to the Nick GAS deal I mentioned above.

My local area lost an unique channel a few years ago when their owners decided to pull the plug. The guide actually said "OFF AIR" after their final show.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would not be surprised to see G4 on U-Verse into December. LIkewise, I would not be surprised to see it leave on 11/30.
