On Demand is a joke
On more than one occasion we have come across a TV show/series that we thought may be worth watching, but it's already into the season. So the most logical thought is that's why we pay to have Uverse On Demand. But On Demand will only have, for example, episodes 4-7. What sense does it make at all that episodes 1-3 aren't available? It's a terrible service that rarely is useful. Everytime that happens I want to cancel and move to another, better managed service, but I'm stuck with this half-witted programming (assuming your donkey's name is Witted).

HHello @drives,
You might try uverse.com On Demand, sometimes the content varies, and you might find better things to watch on the website then you would on TV.

This is not Comcrap w/30 years experience in VOD, versus Uverse's 8 or so years experience in VOD.
I've had Uverse TV for more than 7 years and seen the VOD grow leaps and bounds in that time frame. I don't like to watch it anymore though w/no FF/REW and ads you're forced to watch.
Some users have hooked their computers, through HDMI output, to the TV to watch streaming from Network websites or anything else. 😉

Another swing and a miss. In what u-niverse does it make sense to not have *all* the episodes from a season?

Hi @drives. Please let me know what TV service allows one to "binge watch" series / seasons on Video on Demand (VOD)? As far as I know, no provider has every season and ever episode. Why? The content owners do not allow it. They have deals with Netflix, Hulu Plus and so on. Would a content owner who makes money from Netflix or Hulu+, want to lose that revenue stream in trade for access to U-Verse, Time Warner, Dish and so on? Sure U-Verse, Dish et al do pay for Showtime, HBO and so on but much of that fee goes to acquire new programming. The content owners tell providers how many of each series they can offer. It seldom is above four.
Storage space is another issue - "Cable" TV providers only have so much space. When I had Comcast, each VoD title had an expiration date. Now if TV providers ever figured out how to use the "cloud" and the shows' owners would allow it, they may have more.
Please let us know what your research shows, lol. Sadly, "unlimited VoD," is a big misconception when it comes to cable TV providers.

Well, @dhascall this may be his luck after the first of the year, a Home Media Gateway, based on DirecTV architecture.
the platform will include "very thin hardware profiles," likely indicating a cloud-based approach to a set-top box.
