Problem with only three tv's able to use HD at a time??

Can someone explain why I can only have three tv's using HD at once?

This is 2016 and I can't figure out why U-Verse only allows three HD tv's working at the same time - there are four people that would like to watch different HD channels at the same time - one receiver gives a message that HD is not avaliable.

@souper09  Most of get us 4 HD, some get 3HD/1SD a few get 2HD/2SD.  All depends on the distance from the VRAD, only 4 streams guaranteed.

What does your DVR say here:  menu>options>system options>system information>system resources.

Mine says 0SD/4HD (WAN) [into the RG] 0SD/4HD (Ingress) [into the DVR] 31847200

Any stream the TV connected to the DVR uses does not count in the HD count, but does in the stream count.  So, I'd say yours will come out 2HD/2SD. Smiley Surprised

@souper09 - @mibrnsurg explains why you are limited (i.e. distance) -

The work around is to do more recording & agree on who get whats time frame. Many shows can be recorded when there is no competion for the streams. Then watched when comtetion is high. Work out a schedule/agreement on series recordings, set them up & do not intrude on live/recordings.

On the off chance that you do qualify for four HD - Look in your RG - http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_1_0 If user rate down says 32220 you would qualify for four HD.

If it is below that, it could be double checked to verify it is correct.

@directv100    You do not know what you are talking about.  It works fine on what you call an old copper phone pair. Smiley LOL

menu - options - system options - system information - system resources says:

1 SD/3 HD WAN and the same for (ingress)

The question is why can other providers handle more that 3 HD's at the same address, and the copper wire or what ever they have coming into the community doesn't matter to me or the other providers.

and I'm probably paying the same as someone getting full HD in their house - just saying

@souper09   Because ATT uses a totally different system, IPTV, sent as data packets and reassembled in the DVR/STB.  Only the channels watching/recording comes to the home.

This is different from all of the other providers that use RF modulation in a typical cable system setup.  All channels in SD/HD delivered to all home users all the time.  Verizon FiOS was a big cable system on fiber optic cable.

# of HD channels that come to the home is direcctly related to the distance from the VRAD. 😉
