Questions about the new U-Verse app

Just got the new app on mar 2, 2024 for my Houston Uverse account. There are several things I could do on the old app that I haven’t figured out how on the new app.  I’ll just name one for now. When looking at the guide to see what is on, there are several channels missing.  Example NBC ch 1002 and CBS ch 1011.  Are they not supported in the new app or am I doing something wrong?

I just downloaded an update to the app. I now see local channels in the guide, but can't add them to favorites.

GOOD: Allows landscape view of the guide, shows all channels in the Guide

BAD: Still doesn't show ABC, CW, CBS, or PBS (HD or non-HD channels) in the channel matrix in settings for selecting Favorite Channels

I just got the new update today. Android. This is TERRIBLE. I rarely get to see anything when it is actually broadcast. Therefore, I have a lot of DVR'd tv shows. The old app was not perfect by any means; but, at least I could look at it and know when something was recorded and be able to watch the earliest recorded shows in order. Even the STB didn't do that with the TV. So, I used the app every day. The tiles were not a value added change. There is a filter function but nothing that is for recordings. I can't filter from most recent or earliest. Now, I am guessing what was recorded when and will miss recordings because of it. It is bad enough that we lost regular broadcast networks like CW that never came back, and NBC and CBS for several months each. I can't want recorded shows anywhere but the STB which did not allow me to date sort them on the TV, especially if several episodes in a series were recorded. Xfinity customer service is atrocious. I have found that getting answers and help from ATT is almost as bad in the last couple years. I do my best not to have to make contact. Given that, Xfinity allows me to see my7 recorded shows on STB, mobile devices, computer, internet, etc. I am not tied just to the STB. I know the hope was that everyone would go to DirectTV and ATT could get out from under Uverse. But, you do still have Uverse. We still pay for it and deserve service. We should have been considered with this change. I am sure many have asked to be able to view recorded programs away from the STB. When is that coming? Now, the app and its use for Recordings and the STB with it, combined are much worse. I am VERY disappointed in this surprise. It is Easter next weekend... fyi, I do not consider this an Easter egg that I am lucky to have found.

Is there a quick guide available for the new UVerse app for Android? I got no notification that this was being pushed and there's no quick guide to show me what the icons mean or how to manage my existing recordings on my DVR. For example, I tried to delete a recording I already watched from a series, but the list doesn't detail episode or date info. It's just the same series title with a red dot next to it.

The AT&T U-verse App for Android provides a convenient way to manage your U-verse TV. The U-verse app allows U-verse subscribers to:

  • View their U-verse TV Guide.
  • Manage their home DVR.
  • Set favorites from eligible Android devices.
  • Watch live TV and stream shows from the mobile library (for qualified U-verse package subscribers) at no additional charge.

Your U-verse TV receiver must first be set to allow communication and control from the U-verse app. These instructions guide you through that pairing process allowing you to connect to your TV using the U-verse app on your smartphone, tablet, or wearables.

Learn simple steps to watch your recorded programs and see scheduled recordings, add a recording, or even check your U-verse TV DVR capacity.

To view your recorded shows, press the Recordings button on your AT&T U-verse Remote Control. Select the desired program and then press OK. Or select Menu, then scroll down to Recordings, and Browse Recordings.
To view shows scheduled to record, add a recording, or check DVR space:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote control, then select Recordings.
  2. Select Recordings by Date, Recordings by Title, Scheduled, or Series.
  3. From here you can also add a recording and check your remaining DVR recording space.

The updated Uverse app is a DISASTER. Local channels don't seem to appear the new guide, called "Live TV - Guide." If I search by network or station call letters, I can't even see all the programming in a single evening on one screen. I used to look at the old app Guide every few days to schedule things for recording and viewing in the next few days, especially on local channels. How do I do that now with this trash app? This is awful. You have made Uverse virtually unusable, but I guess AT&T has been looking for ways to discontinue it for years. Time to switch back to the (slightly less awful) local cable company, I guess. What a terrible way to treat customers. Did anyone ask for this "update"?

I completely agree with the "disaster" rating above. Everything that I used to use the app for no longer is available and the few things I can do still are not user friendly. Recorded programs are not in any usable order. I really want to be able to go to MY LOCAL GRID (not just LIVE shows that are available) and to record a program. I can't find PBS for God's sake in the lineup and there's no way to search for it. It looks pretty, but it is not helpful! I used to use the app all the time and found it really good. Now it's lovely to look at and doesn't help me AT ALL!

Purchased Android smart phone (Samsung S24+). Downloaded Uverse app. Does not show an option to display the Guide so I can view or record programs. Similar app on Samsung S8 did show this option.

My Uverse app (which has worked fine for many years) now only shows HBO channels in the guide and nothing else.  It happens on both iPhone and iPad, so it's not device specific.  I've already tried deleting and reinstalling.  Anyone know what's wrong?

My Uverse app (which has worked fine for many years) now only shows premium channels in the guide and nothing else.  It is happening on my iPHone.  I've already tried deleting and reinstalling several times.  Please post a resolution?

If the app isn't working properly, we highly recommend that you troubleshoot the app.

 

Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

How to fix your Mobile app from your Smartphone or Device 

  1. Make sure you are using the correct member ID to sign in
  2. Restart the device.
  3. Delete cache. Varies on phone, browser or device operating system.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app
  5. Verify you have the latest software/ operating system on your phone or tablet 
  6. Turn off other apps that may be in use
  7. Make sure you have U-verse TV service and an appropriate package – if you do not have U-verse TV, you can see if it is available by signing into your account at att.com.
  8. Reset your password – This can help sync up your account.
  9. In some instances, restoring the phone has resolved app function. You may lose pictures and other data if this is performed. 
  10. Also, be sure to report/post a review in the applicable software store for your affected device to help address an issue.

Note: U-verse TV customers can have up to five mobile devices registered per ID (master or sub) at any given time.

 

The U-verse app requires that you have the latest iOS. If your device is not compatible with the latest iOS, the app will not workTo view online content, you must be subscribed to the U200 package or above.

I have already done all of the 10 steps you listed above and still same issue.  Please provide additional assistance.  It seems very strange that several others are having the same issue.

For those missing local channels from the Guide in the new U-verse App...

Click on the filter icon at the top of the Guide page (looks like a funnel).

Click on Clear All (this will remove all filters, including the Live Channels filter which block channels that can't be viewed directly on the App)

See if your locals are now available

I've seen filters applied at app start, so you may have to get use to clearing filters this way.

In the LiveTV tab and Guide/ select the filter button in the top right of the page and his clear all button.  It will then show all your subscribed channels.

I agree.  The updated u-verse app is a disaster!  I can’t navigate anywhere near as easily as I could on the old one.  Finding a channel like Marquee Sports Network you have to know the filter “code” and you can’t save it as a favorite channel for some reason.  Additionally the record functionality is a disaster.  It doesn’t work half the time and when it does work the system doesn’t notify you when your recording session has been successfully completed.  Give me the old version of the app back!  It wasn’t perfect but at least it was easy to follow and it worked!

Using the 7.4.4 app on iOS, ipad and phone, same results. On the home Att wifi gateway. I open app, limited channels shown. I use the drop down to clear all, so I can now see all. However, only 31 channels are showing live and can be streamed. U-verse subscription is roughly 200 channels should be available. I understand locals not available, so I’ll give you 10, but still 160 channels not available? iOS up to date. App to date, deleted and reloaded. Sign in, signed out. What’s am I missing?

That is an odd issue, we have not seen it yet.  Please tell me what you see before you Clear All and then after.  Where do the channel #'s stop?

I can now see ABC HD 1008, CW HD 1009, CBS HD 1011 and PBS 1013 HD (DFW Metro) in the complete channel listing but they are still not available in the Favorites setting. So some progress but more needed.

For follow-up to my post, in the channel filter, I see … favorite - no channels visible, live - 31 channels (should be 200 minus locals), hd - 11 odd ball channels, cancel - full list but still only 42 accessible. Whats left of the 200 all have the set top box icon, not live.
