Re: Live Nascar

I just renwed my contract May 17th and was NOT told I would not receive NASCAR or early golf rounds of the US Open. Waiting for a supervisor to call and cancel my contract.....

There are other posts regarding the missed programming fallout due to the AT&T/Fox Sports 1 contract stalemate. AT&T is a huge company with many depts and multiple layers of management. I'm sure that the legal dept is holding their ground, while the marketing dept continues to advertise all these channels, then the service dept has to field complaints from disgruntled customers. Cancelling your service may be the best way to be "heard" as the bottom line affects all depts.

Since you indicated that you were renewing your contract on May 17, that shows me that you were already a U-verse subscriber. You would have already known that you could not get Xfinity races on Fox Sports 1 if you are truly a NASCAR fan. Maybe you are a casual golf fan, and did not previously know that the US Open was blacked out to U-verse subscribers for the Thursday and Friday rounds.

Already having the knowledge that there were blackouts, and due to the fact there have been a multitude of posts on this forum regarding the subject, why did you renew in the first place if those two sporting events were so important to you. Nothing has been posted in this forum about a change in the contract between AT&T and Fox Sports ending the blackouts.\

The June 28th NASCAR race is on FS1. All other races for the rest of the year are on NBC or NBCSN.

Indeed but it really blows that 1) Fox started this and 2) AT&T did nothing for 4 months.  The Xfinity series is often better than Cup.

Being a bit selfish here, once NASCAR flips to NBC and NBCSN, I don't care if they show Darts or not.  FS1/2 will still show the Trucks and possibly qualifying.  I'm good, lol.  It be different if I liked soccer.

FOX started this mess though it is getting be a bit old that AT&T is the lone balker.

I am not worried about the CBS/Showtime situation. However, if Showtime is pulled, there should be a reduction in monthly fees. The loss of the Hallmark channels and any other channels that are not obtained with a separate extra subscription fees are one thing, and people should not expect a reduction in fees.

Movie packages are different in my opinion. One pays extra for the subscription up and above the regular fees. If a particular movie package is pulled, the monthly fee should be reduced according to the amount it would cost someone to add that movie subscription to their package.

No one who has U-350 and U-450 wants to pay the same amount if the Showtime channels and The Movie Channels are no longer available.  You are paying extra at those two levels to get the Showtime channels and The Movie Channel.

I hope I am clear about what I am trying to say. As I said, I am not worried about the situation at this time. We shall see what the outcome is on July 1.

If someone was complaining about the lack of Hallmark, well, a call to retentions saved me a couple Hamilton's a month for almost as long as I've been with U-Verse. I'm not sure I paid full price for internet and TV for more than 4-5 months since I signed up with them in 2008. Of course, I think I'm locked into some sort of "grandfather" deal since I was one of the first customers in my area all those years ago.

With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if the retentions people got real liberal with the promotions should the CBS deal fail to be renewed. I've heard that happening with other companies... a major channel goes dark and they hand out free HBO/Cinemax or a free sports pack or such.
