Start up and pausing troubles

Why is it taking 10 minutes for the first screen to come on and it usually goes to on demand?

That is strange and unusual behavior.

Try a Whole House Reboot:

  • Unplug the DVR, any STBs and the RG (modem).  Wait 20 secs.
  • Plug in RG first.  Wait for all lights to star flashing.
  • Plug in DVR next.  Allow it start working.
  • Plug in any STBs you might have.

Turn off the TV and turn it back on to see if this fixed the problem.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Is it a set-top box, and is the problem happening from a cold start.

From my own experience, going to on demand is a normal situation in a cold start.

A prolonged delay, could be caused if the set-top box is trying to connect wirelessly but no WAP and eventually tries wired. A factory reset would cure it.

Things I've observed recently in my own dealings.

The on demand at start up happens every time we turn on the TV. The pausing is random when watching recorded stuff. Sometimes while watching a show or sometimes while FF the commercials.

I just did and now it starts up with it pausing on its own then going to the various still pictures with the press ok to watch and then it goes to the 3 dots. Now a black screen and now it’s rebooting again on its own. I think I will call for a service tech to come out.
