streaming national geographic channel

according to the national geographic website, there is some way to watch past episodes on uverse.  I've followed the steps they call out but don't know how (or if) I can watch these things.   The NG site says it's playing... but where... how?  Do I have to have a smart tv for it to work?

For TV, on the remote press menu --> on demand -->  free shows --> navigate to Networks A-Z and select M-R and then find Nat Gep Channel.  But to save you the finger exercise don't bother following those instructions.   There's only three series listed.

A better idea is to stream nat geo stuff directly from the nat geo site on your computer through your browser (and maybe phones too but I am not sure of that).  The site will ask you if you are "belong" to the cable companies it's got contracts with.  Uverse is one of them.  It will then allow you to play its series.  I'm not sure how complete they are either.  But it looks like there's way more choices than uverse's on demand (it's a bigger list but I didn't check any deeper).  It may only be recent and current episodes of their series.

One caveat, the nat geo videos on their site won't play correctly or at all on your browser if you have any ad and javascript blockers.  I found that out when sampling one of their videos.

National Geographic On Demand is rather limited:  Genius, Origins & Wicked Tuna.

As stated, you've got a wider selection online.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

the answer seems to be to use Firefox instead of Microsoft Edge.  It works, sort of.  Not worth the effort due to buffering.  Thanks for the help but I won't use the feature again.
