Uverse box will not play through XBOX One X
I just got an XBOX One X and tried to use the hdmi cable to hook the uverse cable box directly to it like I had with my XBOX One. But, the xbox one x and the att uverse cable box isn't showing any television at all. It says "your tv signal was lost". But, I have changed the hdmi cable 3 times to brand new cables. When I do this the xbox one x says that it has detected a signal from the uverse box but then nothing happens. It never shows a picture. Also, when I plug the uverse box directly to the television it works just fine. Uverse cable box worked fine through my xbox one right up until I put in the xbox one x. Does anyone know the issue or how to get the uverse cable box to work with the new xbox one x?

It seems like I had a problem just like that when I ran my receiver through the Xbox. You might need to connect the receiver to the Xbox and then turn your tv off, might need to turn the Xbox off too. Then turn it back on and it should recognize the swap. Let me know if that worked.

*SOLVED* In case anyone has this same issue, I found out the answer from AT&T. The Xbox one x is 4k and the Uverse receiver can not work with the 4k. So, until they bring out a receiver that works with 4k, the box won't work with XBox one X. But, it works fine with xbox one. But, if anyone finds a workaround, I would still be completely interested in hearing about that.

That doesn't sound right to me. Any 4K tv can accept the att receiver's 720p/1080i input and up-convert to display on a 4k screen.
Why you want to pass the att's receiver through the x box anyhow? Why not connect the receiver to one of the tv's hdmi inputs and the x box to another of the tv's hdmi inputs and switch the input on the tv to whatever device you currently want to use? Or doesn't that x box work even work that way either?
Update:
Re-reading the previous post maybe I misinterpreted. Is the video out of the xbox 4K and you are trying to feed it to a tv that only supports up to 1080p or 1080i, i.e., a non-UHD tv? In that case I don't think that would work. Strange the x box wouldn't support downward compatibility since there's more HD tv's currently out there than UHD tv's. But if the x box doesn't search for separate down converters that could take a UHD signal and convert to HD.

What I am actually doing is passing the uverse cable receiver out hdmi into the xbox one x, so that I do not have to change the hdmi on the tv everytime I switch from playing on the xbox to watching tv. I had the uverse cable receiver hdmi hooked up to my xbox one and was able to just go from playing a game to watching cable without changing hdmi input on the tv. Yes, I do have a 4k television and the xbox one x is 4k as well but, what isn't 4k is the uverse receiver. There is no problem with the xbox one x hooks up fine to the tv and showing in 4k. I have no problem with the uverse receiver hooking up to the 4k tv without an issue. I just can't get the tv to show through the 4k xbox one x. And when I talked with the Uverse tech support, they said that the uverse receiver does not communicate with the 4k xbox one x (the new version, not regular xbox one). If you have a workaround I am all ready to read it.

Glad I stumbled across this. I just hooked up an XBox One X this weekend and having the same issue. Question, does the cold boot erase everything?

RESOLVED:
I encountered this audio issue on my XBOX One (not X) and Firestick. I stuck one of my black USB cables/non iOS (I have a bunch of USB charging cables) into the back of the Uverse box. For some reason, this toggles the old coaxial technology which ATT uses yet should upgrade. Their technology is odd and it should not be incompatible with newer models of TVs, streaming and gaming devices. Although I used an older non-iOS cable, perhaps any would work. I also tried to troubleshoot using HDMI cables, etc. but that did not work.
